Because beer is proof that God love us and wants us to be happy.
To make us civilized. That is why the first known crops to be plated were barley. And I will give you a hint, barley really makes lousy bread. The oldest known writings that exist (from the bronze age) are about beer. There are countless quotes from world leaders, emperors, kings and statesmen about beer. Were it not for beer man would still be hunting food rather then farming it.
Many cultures considered beer to be central to their culture. The Egyptians wrote about it in stone on the pyramid walls.

The same reason kids enjoy drinking kool-aid with each other in a social place or sometimes private. I enjoy the the taste of some alcoholic beverages and the over all feeling after having a cocktail or two with friends.
Because alcohol relaxes the mind, and people do it just to be sociable
