It depends on where you are. No business anywhere in the U.S. is allowed to sell alcohol to anyone under the age of 21. That's what the federal law says. It doesn't specifically say anything about actually DRINKING the alcohol. Just buying it. This means there is a little wiggle room in interpretation.

As with most kinds of laws, states have some rights to create alcohol laws themselves, as long as they also honor federal laws while they do so. So all states make sure to sell alcohol only to people 21 or older. As to who actually CONSUMES that alcohol, though, there can be a little reinterpretation. Many states just go ahead and say that if you aren't old enough to buy, you also aren't old enough to drink it. Pretty much all states also put rules into place making it illegal to buy alcohol for someone else who isn't old enough to do so on their own.

In the state where I live it is 100% legal for parents to give alcohol to their own children while in their own household. The law is on the books saying this is allowed. If a cop randomly showed up and found a drunken 16-year-old at his own home with his parents, no law has been broken and nothing will be done. However, other states do not allow this as legal at all and the parents would be considered to be criminally providing alcohol to minors. In any state, providing alcohol to children that are NOT your own is always illegal.

You'll have to check with your particular state to see what the law says.

i am a german american and my parents handed me my first "family" beer at 14... nothing wrong with it but its not completly legal but most cops wont say anything bc its parents choice

That depends entirely upon where you live, down to the state you live in. Some places, yes and others, no.

Yes it is legal as long as the parents are over 21 years.

US laws

Sure they *can* is it legal? Still no. (If you are in the US where the drinking age is 21)

Yes. There's nothing stopping it from happening.

i think as long as its in the house its ok.

Depends on location. There are over 200 countries in the world, you know.
