If it's just home-made beer, why is it illegal to make!?

Home-made beer is legal to make (except for one state, you can look into it but I think its Alabama)!.
Moonshine starts out as something similar to a home made beer, except instead of being malt and hops it is grains and corn -- no hops!. After fermentation, however, the liquid is about 5-6% ABV!. Moonshine is then made by distilling this liquid!. You'll end up with a high proof liquor!. Using a pot still or a continuous still without a license is illegal in the US -- and this is why moonshine is illegal!. You need to use a still to make moonshine, no way around that!.
The best you can do without a still is something called freeze distillation!. You basically take the alcoholic liquid after fermentation and freeze it!. Some of it will freeze solid, you take that out and discard it, since it is mostly water!. After a few cycles, the liquid won't freeze anymore!. This is because it is a 30-40%ABV liquid!. That would be similar to vodka, if you started out with good ingredients!. As far as I am aware, this is legal in the US!. Or at the very least, if you only make it for your own use nobody will bother you!. It is illegal to sell any home made alcohol, however, even legally made beer!. You need a liquor license to sell alcohol and you are required to have safety and sanitation inspections when making anything for human consumption!. You can give it to friends and family for free, that's pretty much assumed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's an unaged overproof (close to 100% alcohol) whiskey, not beer usually made from corn and manufactured illegally!. It's illegal because you can't make high proof spirits without special licenses and you especially can't sell it which most moonshiners do!.The term moonshine comes from the way people would make it by the light of the moon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
