How is beer a less healthy beverage than it was when it was first "invented"?!

Question: How is beer a less healthy beverage than it was when it was first "invented"!?
I heard that modern beer is not nutritious, and that "original" beer was nutritious!. So, whats different about it!? I also heard that "original" beer is defined in Muslim law to have certain ingredients, and these were the more nutritious ones!. Whats the validity of that story!? also, I thought Muslims couldn't drink at all, now I know, no one is perfect but if it's not allowed, then why would the law define how it is made properly!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is still a lot of beer out there that contains nutritious value!. But, I don't doubt what you heard!. Most American macrobrewers (Bud, Miller, Coors) have long since stripped beer of nutritional values!. Consider this:

1!. Most American macro lagers include preservatives to allow for a longer shelf life!.
2!. Most American macro lagers are brewed with adjunct grains like rice which, when fermented, bring little nutritional value to the party!.
3!. Most American macro lagers are filtered - which means that nutrient-rich yeast is no longer present in the beer!.

That said, there is a bright side!. There are a TON of great microbrews and imports available to the American consumer that still possess all of the great nutrients found in historical beers!. These brews are developed with all-barley malt-bills and still contain the yeast used to ferment!. Drink these and you will still derive some benefits from the brewing process!.

I am not familiar enough with muslim law or scripture to comment on this piece of your question!. In fact, I am surprised to hear that Muslims have beer purity laws -- just as you are!. The most famous beer purity law is the German Reinheitsgebot which decrees that beer must be only made from malt, hops, yeast and water!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First off, they didn't define it so you could make it properly, they defined it so you could identify it!. That way you could avoid it!.

Modern beer is much more processed and contains preservatives to extend its shelf life!. Beer back in the day did not have these ingredients or extra processing!. In fact, beer was originally developed as liquid bread by the Egyptians!. It was likely much thicker and richer than modern beer, and contained much more calories and food value!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
