Why do meat-eaters think animals serve a 'purpose'?!
Why do meat-eaters think animals serve a 'purpose'?
Cockroaches and poison nettle don't serve any purpose either, but they exist. The belief that animals should serve a purpose is rooted in the Old Testament and is unscientific, which means it is illogical and cannot make a valid argument.

Bert C,
If you reread my post, you can see I am advocating science, not religion.

Chef Jessi,
"reason to exist" has nothing to do with Darwin's theory of evolution. Things exist because they can, not because they need a reason or purpose.

And by the way, how stupid does one have to be to call Darwin's theory of evolution "religious"? It is pure science.

Jessi,
Why should science belong in "Philosophy"? Philosophy is for philosophists. Science is acceptable in any forum.

Well I’d say that animals do have a purpose, but they were definitely not put here to be imprisoned, tortured, and eaten by humans.
They serve their own purpose on earth; they have just as much right to be here as we do.
@ Anyone who says that this question should be in the religious section.
This is the food&drink >> V&V section
Where we discuss vegetarianism…
This question IS related to vegetarianism… since most meat-eaters justify eating what they want because, “gOD put animals on the earth for us to eat.”
It may be also related to religion, but this kind of stuff is something that we hear everyday. So I think that there is nothing wrong with posting it here.

Haha… meat eaters don’t sit and question vegans??!! What are you talking about?
Anytime someone finds out that I am a vegetarian, they automatically want to debate me on it. I just want to eat my veggie burger in peace… not defend myself every time someone doesn’t agree with the way I live my life.
@ Prof’s Nephew
Cows were meant to produce milk for humans???!!!!!
Cows were meant to produce milk for their young!!! Not us…
And it’s just ignorant to say that cows would die if it wasn’t for us milking them. Like any other mammal on earth, if there is no need for her to produce milk, then it won't be produced. Humans, for example, when they stop breastfeeding… they stop producing milk.
And as for the design of our teeth, I’d LOVE to see you try and take down a cow with your bare hands and rip into it with your teeth… why not, your teeth are meant for ripping and shredding right?...
@ Rome
Buying your food already killed and sometimes even prepared for you at a supermarket doesn't make you at the top of the food chain. But if it makes you feel cool to think that then go right ahead... have fun...
