ME TOO

Im 16, a junior in high school, male, and a vegan

Here are some websites
http://chooseveg!.com
http://vegweb!.com
http://goveg!.com
http://about!.vegetarian!.com

Here is my favorite dish
Its quick and delicious (feel free to add cheese to it of course)

I do not have much time (I clean my whole house *mom is lazy dad is gone off to nowhere* and I do homework, and Im in robotics, and Im vegan, so it gets strenuous)

Here is a dish I make on nights I just want to kick back and watch Time warp, mythbusters, and prototype this (wednesdays 7-10 PM)

Jareds No Cruelty All Deliciousness Chili

Here is what you need
1 can prepared kidney beans
1 can prepared pinto beans
1 green pepper, washed
1 yellow onion, washed
half of a chili pepper (I like it hot, but you can exclude this if you want to)
2 tablespoons of oil (preferably olive oil)
One packet of chili seasoning
1 large can tomato sauce
cumin, chili powder, salt, black pepper to taste
One soup pot

First drain the beans, then set them aside
preheat a skillet (about 10 in in diameter) on medium low heat)
next, chop the onion and the green pepper (and the chili if you want it)
next put the oil into the pan and move the pan to where the oil coats it
toss in the vegetables
Cook until onion is transclucent (light passes through) but be careful, dont cook to long
Put the beans in the soup pot
put the vegetables when cooked in their with the beans
toss in the tomato sauce, the chili seasoning, and however many spices you want (just be careful, the flavors take a while to activate)
Stir till mixed very well, then cover and simmer for 35 minutes, stirring occasionaly
serve hot, preferably with saltines, a side of fruit, and a stick of celery *my favorite*

More advice: Stock up on veggies and fruits and whole grains, you will be prepared, try to find easy recipes online that are not time consuming, dont worry about perfection, keep trying and experimenting, and overall just be concientious of your food and time and nutrition

also many foods that are microwavable are quick to make and vegetarian, just watch those ingredients

GOOD LUCK TO YOU

Why not veggie burgers!?
There are a bunch of different kinds Morningstar, boca, garden burger!.!.!. a generic brand probably!.
They make more than just pattys like Morningstar has a HUGE variety of foods: corn dogs, hot dogs, pizza burgers, bacon, sausage patties/links, ground meat (like for tacos), chick'n strips/beef strips, chick'n nuggets, buffalo wings, chick'n pattys!.

And those are all microwavable in under 2 minutes!.

Then for non processed foods, bean tacos, hummus wraps w/ veggies, mac and cheese, pasta, soups, eggplant, stirfry, pizza!. Here is a link for vegan ideas (of course you are not vegan but they still provide good ideas: http://www!.vegan!.org/going_vegan/eating_!.!.!. )

Not to mention that any food can be made w/o meat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

hi there

tofu is not the only meat substitute out there!. infact you have to change the way you look at cooking and look at food

i think you should convince your mum to help you in your decision and cook for you!.

there are lot of recipes on following websites, hope they help

http://www!.bbc!.co!.uk/food/vegetarian_and!.!.!.

www!.tarladalal!.com

is a brilliant website too, Tarla is one of India's most famous chef and her books have sold millions of copies, and all her recipes are vegetarian - she has been a vegetarian all her life and her books have all types of recipes - indian, italian, mexican, chinese etc!.

good luck ! Www@FoodAQ@Com

Some of the imitation lunch meats are good, but I generally avoid processed foods!. If you have Trader Joe's near you, they have pre-packaged frozen, microwaveable burritos that are fantastic, and all-natural!. They also have vegetable biryani that can be cooked in a skillet in just a few minutes!. (To beef it up, you could slice up some tofu, seitan, etc!., but it doesn't really need it!.)

also, try talking to your mother!. Explain why you don't want to eat meat!. Try to be persistent, but without nagging!. Over time, she may come around!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Veggie burgers( Morningstars , boca burgers)!. Eat any vegetable & fruits!. Soy or Rice ice-cream!. Beans!. A lot of salads!. etc!.!. Don't eat too much junk food, eat mostly natural food: Fresh vegatable & fruits!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
