Is soy milk a good source of calcium? ?!

Question: Is soy milk a good source of calcium!? !?
Today I watched a video on peta2!.com and I seriously want to be a vegan now!. I found out that drinking cow milk is not vegan, so I wanted to know if soy milk gives you the same amount of calcium as regular milk Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, But there are other easy vegan sources of calcium!.

Calcium in dairy products is not absorbed into the body as easily as that found in many plant foods like dark green leafy vegetables!.
Though dairy products are rich in calcium, the high protein content is acid yielding and results in calcium being leached out of the body!. This is why people with calcium deficiency keep taking supplements despite taking plenty of milk!.

So, better and vegan sources of calcium are leafy veg, nuts and especially sesame seeds!.

Sesame seeds are the best source of calcium for anyone, followed by almonds!.

Dairy is not the only source of calcium!. While soy milk is fortified to have about the same amount of calcium as regular milk (my sources said 29% of your DV of calcium comes from a serving of regular milk, with 30% from soy milk), vegetables, beans, and nuts also contain calcium!. Don't worry, just eat a varied diet and you'll be fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here are a couple of facts for you:
Myth: Soy estrogens (isoflavones) are good for you!.
Truth: Soy isoflavones are phyto-endocrine disrupters!. At dietary levels, they can prevent ovulation and stimulate the growth of cancer cells!. Eating as little as 30 grams (about 4 tablespoons) of soy per day can result in hypothyroidism with symptoms of lethargy, constipation, weight gain and fatigue!.

Myth: Soy foods are safe and beneficial for women to use in their postmenopausal years!.
Truth: Soy foods can stimulate the growth of estrogen-dependent tumors and cause thyroid problems!. Low thyroid function is associated with difficulties in menopause!.
