Is there a simple way to spice up my coffee to make it taste better?!

Question: I would like to have it taste more like the holidays, if that makes any sense. I was thinking of something along the lines of cinnamon, candy canes, etc. Home-made would be best as my husband has the family vehicle and I can't make it to the store for any special creamer. I do have candy canes and spices and those kinds of things here at home. Thanks!

One year, my best friend and I were putting up Christmas lights outside of my home for the kids. it was below freezing, so I went in to make us to coffee to warm up. it was really cold, so I added some Brandy. I didnt really like the taste, so I ended up adding hazelnut, vanilla, creamer, sugar, and a dash of nutmeg. My best friend liked it so much, that it is a tradition to come to my house, put up lights and drink what we now call as my "Christmas Lights Coffee". Becasue by the time we are finished, the house is lit up, and so are we :D

Adding a dash of cinnamon and a little bit of brown sugar or real maple syrup to your coffee once it's made and heated should do the trick. Stir well and add cream or milk if you like.

Cinnamon is very good in Coffee, also Try some hot coco mix.

Cinnamon is a nice little trick - I used to put a little right in with the grounded beans when I worked at a restaurant years ago. I also like nutmeg in my coffee - that's what I put in it every day at Starbucks!

syrup or cinnamon. If you aren't watching calories, chocolate or caramel syrup.

Harvest Coffee Cider

? cup coffee grounds
? teaspoon ground cinnamon
? cup brown sugar or honey
1 cup apple juice
3 cups cold water

Place coffee and cinnamon in brew basket of coffee maker. Place sugar and apple juice in the bottom of the coffee pot. Add water to coffee maker and brew. When brewing is complete, stir until well mixed. This recipe tends to be a little messy, so using powder DIP-IT is especially helpful when cleaning the stains off your carafe and brewing basket and for always attaining the best tasting coffee. For cleaning the water circulation system, use the liquid form.

Trust me on this: your best bet is to AVOID flavored coffees, things with names like "Cinnamon Spice" or "Hazelnut Supreme" or whatever. Use regular, unflavored ground coffee. The type/brand is entirely up to you (whatever you usually drink).

To the basket of dry coffee, add a small amount of the spice/flavoring you want to impart to your coffee. For example, you could add about half a teaspoon (don't add much more than that) of ground cinnamon, or nutmeg, or both. Then brew the coffee as usual. It will be more of an aroma sensation than a flavor sensation, but that's actually what counts.

Another idea, of you're into candy canes, is to purchase a tiny bottle (it's like 1 ounce) of peppermint oil at a local pharmacy---they keep it behind the actual pharmacy counter (you don't need a prescription). If you're going to use it, USE VERY LITTLE. I've done this before, at holiday times, and you'll want to add one tiny drop to your dry coffee grounds---no more, or the mint will completely overpower everything.

I would not recommend adding anything---candy, spices, flavorings---to the coffee itself. All that's going to do is cloud the coffee, and possibly add bits of debris to it! However, a candy cane or peppermint stick would make an excellent garnish (and stirring stick) for a holiday coffee.
