What is so bad about Coffee?

My mom always told me that coffee will hurt me but how and why? Is there really anything that is bad dealing with coffee?

Answers:
What red_fire_halo says is true, but one of the main disadvantages of coffee is that is an inhibitor, which means that slows down/blocks the intake of vitamins and minerals to your body. So if you eat a healthy breakfast and you hope that your morning or lunch work-out at the gym will be a success, well your body will not absorb most of the vitamins and minerals and therefore you will not reach top performance. Same if you are taking medication/diets and you take it with anything that has caffeine, well your body will not absorbed a great part of those pills. Furthermore the excess of vitamins not absorb in your stomach and small intestines, will turn into fat.
All of these are facts that have been studied at labs all over the nation; however, coffee is such a great part of everyday life that people will not stop drinking it.
I drink a cup of coffee or coke once a week, and only during times that I don't have to work-out or way after i am done with my breakfast or lunch. I seldom drink caffeine products after dinner because I want all those vitamins to keep me healthy. I am proud to say that the last time I had a cold or got sick was about 3 1/2 years ago and I believe that not drinking caffeine has allowed me to not get sick.

the caffeine isn't good for you, coffee stains your teeth. caffeine depleats the calcium in your body, long-term use of it could lead to brittle bones.

I think you don't have dark circles under your eyes.
Coffee can increase that!

I drank coffee as a kid and still do at age 52. In fact, my husband and I have just made our 4th pot of the day. It doesn't even keep me awake. So, if it's bad, then I guess I'm in bad shape.lol By the way, it didn't stunt my growth either. I'm 5'9"

Good answer there. Also it is acidic upsets stomach. In some cases acid reflux is a problem ,I had it.The caffeine relaxes the valve from the Asparagus to the stomach causing acid to migrate up the Esophagus causing burning, the more is migrating the more the stomach produces acid because it senses the loss of acid, this compounds problems. If not corrected it causes sores to develop and possible Cancer.

Coffee is not bad for you if you and more and more health studies are showing benefits of drinking coffee. It is full of antioxidants, and studies have shown that it can reduce your risk of diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and colon cancer. Coffee is also used to treat headaches and asthma. If you are sensitive to caffeine, have heart problems, or bad reflux then it could cause a problem.

Moderation is the Key

caffeine stores water into your body and stores it for days so if you are trying to health you should avoid all caffeine products

The primary thing that will affect you is the caffeine content- so don't drink more than 2 cups of coffee or 2 shots of espresso per day. That way, you will have less of a chance of being addicted. And don't drink it after 4 pm (excluding decaf) so it won't keep you up at night.

Sometimes people will tell you that coffee will "stunt your growth" to scare you. Ignore that, it is completely a myth as long as you drink it in moderation. I've been drinking caffeinated stuff for as long as I can remember and I am taller than almost all of my friends.

Other than that, don't be afraid of coffee- studies show that it can lower your risk of diabetes and other things.
