Can Grape Juice Make Your Crap Black?!
Can Grape Juice Make Your Crap Black?
i pooped yesterday once it was dark then i pooped soon after it was nearly black... i had dranken half a jug of grape juice the night before.. could it be it?
Answers:
yes, the natural dyes in the grape juice probably made it darker. You see this in deep colored foods like blueberries and froot loop cereal..
For some strange reason when i was pregnant with one of my children i craved that nasty sweet Welches grape juice,I was drinking perhaps a1/2 can a day and i dont recall such a thing happening to me.but then you did,nt mention the brand either .like if it was true juice. or a "grape drink" "drink"or "cocktail" can mean part juice ,mostly water with sugar ,flavors, added vitamins, and DYEs.Those can definitly turn your poop funny colors.
also Iron supplements can result in black feces,so check to see if your juice maybe was "Fortified" meaning it had added vitamins.
id urge you to watch the next couple days to see if it goes back to normal (for you) because black feces can be a sign of bleeding in the digestive tract.if it continues to be black and you arent taking iron supplements, esp. if it starts to look like coffee grounds go straight to your doctor.

No I drink grape juice everyday for the last 5 years and that has not happened to me.It would be blood doing that. You may be bleeding internally. GO TO A DOCTOR TODAY. I'm positive it is NOT grape juice. Blood that comes from deep inside of you is black if it was hemorhoids it would be red, but black is inside of you someplace.
Black, tarry stools with a foul odor can be the result of eating certain foods, taking iron supplements, or possibly from internal bleeding. If the black color is from blood, it is known as "melena." The color indicates that the blood has been in the body for some time, and is coming from higher up in the gastrointestinal tract.
A black stool caused by food, supplements, medication, or minerals is known as "false melena." Iron supplements, taken alone or as part of a multivitamin for iron-deficient anemia, may cause stools to be black or even greenish in color. Foods that are dark blue or black in color may also cause black stools. Substances that can cause false melena are:
Black licorice
Blueberries
Iron supplements
Lead
Bismuth (Pepto-bismol)
A physician should be consulted immediately if black stools can not be attributed to a benign cause such as an iron supplement or a food.
wait a few days. If your stools are still black you should see your doctor.
