Difference between Vegetarian and Veagan?!
Difference between Vegetarian and Veagan?
I know some Vegetarians dont eat meat at all, some Veagans dont eat/wear any animal products. But then there are people who dont eat red meat but eat fish and consider themselves Vegetarians? Are there levels of Vegetarians and Veagans?
Answers:
VEGETARIANS:
*Eat NO dead animals, whether they walk, swim or fly
*There is no such thing as a vegetarian who eats fish or birds
*Vegetarians do not eat foods that are *code words* for dead animal, such as "gelatin"
*they can eat dairy and eggs but some choose not to
___________________
VEGANS
*Same as vegetarians
*They also do not eat products that come from animals,
including eggs, dairy or honey
*They do not eat code words for products that come from
animals such as casein (and many others)
*Vegans do not wear products from animals either. This
includes: leather, wool, suede, down, silk etc.
*They purchase products that were not tested on animals or contain animal parts (soaps, health&beauty, toiletries etc.)
Both are lifestyles; they are just on different points on the same path.

The easiest way to remember the categories is that a
vegetarian asks "Did an animal die for this?" A fish is dead, so vegetarians do not eat them
A Vegan asks "Was an animal used for this?" Animals are used to make wool so they do not use it.

If your a vegitarian you don't eat meat. A vegan eats no animal products. If someone's eating fish, they're not really a vegitarian.
vegans cause no harm to any life form. we like to live harm free. Vegetarians eat no meat except fish and eggs. <-- i dont like that. vegitarianism is more of a diet and veganism is more of a lifestyle.
veggies dont eat meat, vegans dont eat animal products.
yeah ive heard that too, i think they're kinda pathetic. if your a veggie then you dont eat meat period. my dad doesnt eat red meats and he doesnt consider himself a veggie and when ppl ask all i say is "he doesnt eat red meats" not "he's a veggie" there's a big diff there.
p.s. im a veggie
There are differences. Vegan is a subset of Vegetarian -- i.e. All Vegans are Vegetarians, but not all Vegetarians are Vegans.
Vegans will not eat any meat including fish and eggs. I don't remember the rest, but there are Ovo-lacto vegetarians and other types.
Even in the different types, there are different reasons for the things they do. For example, some may not eat meat or eggs for dietary reasons, but will wear leather.
Some (usually Vegans) feel that any animal products whatsoever are bad and harmful to the animals. Some even go so far as to not eat Jello because the thickener in it is made from cartilage.
some religions make their believers vegetarian for a few days a month. 1 such religion is buddism.
yea theres a difference. im a vegetarian but i eat fish. some vegetarians eat no meat at all but eat dairy, but veagns dont eat meat or dairy and dont wear clothes from animals either.
I say there are only 2 levels of vegetable eaters: Vegetarians and the "crazies" a.k.a. vegans.
vegan
Polite company word to be inserted when the word "****" and its derivatives would be offensive.
Well, vegan you!
This looks like a cluster vegan.
Use the right tool or it will get all veganed up.
Hey, did you vegan my sister?
Are we veganed or what!
"But then there are people who dont eat red meat but eat fish and consider themselves Vegetarians? Are there levels of Vegetarians and Veagans?" == YES
Pesce-vegetarians eat fish/seafood
Lacto-ovo-vegetarians eat milk/dairy/eggs
Vegans avoid any and all meat products, including honey (those poor bees!), leather (that cow gave his life for my shoes), and often disdain pet ownership (let it be free!)
vegetarians dont eat meat bue veagans dont eat dairy product or wear animal
Lilly is right
there are diffrent types of vegans....vegitarian,lacto ovo, microbiotic, lacto vegitarian, fruitarian.ect, ect!
this site helps explain what each type is - http://www.vegetarian-restaurants.net/ot...
also take a brief look at - http://www.peta2.com
p.s. watch some of the videos on peta2..it explains alot of stuff about what you eat that you dont know-i.e. KFC abuses their chickens, most farmers abuse their animlas such as pigs chickens etc.
hope i helped!
Vegetarian is someone that doesn't eat meat... but still consumes some animal products, dairy and eggs...
(sometimes they are described as ovo-lacto vegetarians... ovo meaning egg, lacto meaning milk)
But vegetarian can also apply to vegans (for example, I am a vegan, but I call myself a vegetarian alot of the time)
Usually vegans just call themselves vegans though...
A vegan is someone who does not eat meat, or any animal product (dairy, milk, honey)
Also vegans don't wear >or use< animal products (leather, wool blah blah)
And most vegans do not use products that have been tested on animals...
As far as "vegetarians" that eat fish...
There is no such thing, as far as I'm concerned. No Ifs, ands, or buts about it...
Fish and birds are animals, and vegetarians don't eat animals...
Sometimes you see (STUPID) websites made by people that do not know what they are talking about... that give you definitions for fish eating "vegetarians"... Don't listen to those websites...
Here are some websites with the definition of a vegetarian:

Hope that helped.
Vegetarian - no meat, but dairy products such as milk and cheese
Vegan - no meat, no dairy. Vegans use soy milk.
