Vegan Milk Chocolate?!

Question:

Vegan Milk Chocolate?

Does anyone know how to make vegan milk chocolate?

I know some dark chocolate can be vegan but I don't really like the bitterness of it. So is there any way of buying and melting the dark chocolate and mixing it with something like soya milk which would give it a more milky taste?

I would buy ready made vegan chocolates but find they are too expensive and not easily available around where I live... even the ones online are expensive after calculating the shipping costs.

It would be great if someone could give me a recipe and tell me how to make vegan milk chocolate myself. Thanks

Thanks for your advice. Just a quick note...

... I'm looking for recipes for plain milk chocolate. I literally just want to make a plain bar of milky chocolate cheaply using possibly dark chocolate and a dairy alternative like soy milk.

Just like you said... Melt the dark chocolate, stir in the dairy alternative, and let it cool. You don't really need a recipe, just mix enough in for your taste.

Oh, and you could always try carob. I have carob chips and they taste like malted milk balls (and are completely vegan). You can find them in most health food stores.

Vegan Truffles Recipe
Incredibly yummy vegan truffles. Simple recipe, simple to make, and always a huge hit no matter where or when they are presented.
3/4 cup raw cashews
3/4 cup cold water
1 lb bittersweet chocolate
cocoa powder
50 truffles, 2 hours 20 minutes, 20 minutes prep
1. Put cashews and cold water in a blender and blend at high speed for 1-2 minutes (yes a long time).
2. Scrape the sides down and blend again until the mixture is the consistency of heavy cream.
3. Meanwhile, in a double boiler heat the chocolate until it's all melted.
4. Cool the chocolate until it's comfortable to work with and fold in the cashew cream (making sure not to stir too fast or you'll create bubbles).
5. Cool in the fridge for 2 hours (to set).
6. Take out a small ball, roll in cocoa powder and store in fridge/freezer.
7. Repeat until done.

Vegan Chocolate Ganache
3/4 cup soy milk, rice milk, or other non-dairy milk of choice
1/4 cup soy margarine
12 oz. vegan chocolate chips (or chopped vegan chocolate)
In the top part of a double boiler, place the soy milk and margarine, and heat together until the margarine melts. Add the vegan chocolate chips, continue to cook while stirring constantly until the vegan chocolate chips have melted completely and the mixture is very smooth. Use the ganache, warm, as a glaze for cakes or use as a dip or coating for fruit or nuts, or when cool, use as a filling for cakes and desserts. Store any excess in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It can be reheated in a double boiler as needed.

I know most vegetartian chocolates are made with Soy Milk instead of whole milk (from a cow); is actually pretty good tasting, though you can actually taste the difference; to me, it has a slightly malted flavor to it.

Enjoy life brand chocolate chips are vegan, and allergen free. You can make a nice chocolate bar by melting the chips in a double boiler, then adding a little rice or almond or soy milk, then pour into a mold. You could also add an extract like raspberry or orange for variety. I pour them into molds that I get at the craft dept at walmart.

Be cautious of Soy... But I think when it comes to chocolate its your only choice.

first take 3 vegans, grind into paste, seperate into bite size pieces, coat in milk chocolate, yummy !!!!

I don't like dark chocolate either. Have you tried flavoured chocolate? My favourite is Humdingers tangerine dairy free chocolate.

i don't know how to make it but you can buy it from holland and barratt really cheeply

Did you know that Fry's Peppermint Cream (and Orange cream) are vegan? The chocolate is dark, but because of the fondant filling, you don't notice any bitterness.

cocoa
and vegan jelly?
