You both are right. Some places do treat animals poorly, and some treat their animals well. Do I know the places off the top of my head? No, I don't, and in something like this, I'm NOT going to trust any links that I will find because they will be VERY biased(for both sides of the argument) and will not show the whole truth, IMHO. Animal welfare people have been fighting hard for the past few years for the better treatment of animals raised for food, and they have made a lot of progress, but they still have some work to do, I will grant you that. But don't assume that you know that ALL places that raise food animals are cruel, just as your friend shouldn't assume that all aren't cruel. If you know for a fact that you are right, you wouldn't need us to help you, you would already be able to prove to your friend you are right, and she is wrong. The truth is, neither of you are completely rigth or wrong.

The area I grew up in had a lot of farmland, beef and dairy mostly, and we always saw the animals in the fields, so they weren't kept in cramped conditions. One of my neighbors was a dairy farmer, and a friend of mine worked on a dairy farm, and I had been to both at milking time, and from my observation, the cows were in pretty good condition and in no pain, and any cows that had issues were kept apart from the herd and helped/cared for until their issues were resolved.

animals are my friends

So in other words you want to change you friend mind with vege propaganda? Most likely it will backfire if he/she is smart.

How about you live you own life and do you want instead of trying to be militant about your personal views. THATS WHY THEY ARE PERSONAL.

PETA (which created the video for the above link) has several more videos on their website: www.peta.org

These are very graphic, too, so just be aware.

I am sure you can find a lot of info on the PeTA website, but if your friend thinks the way he/she does they must just be in denial.
Like I said you can try peta, but a lot of times as soon as someone sees their name (peta) attached to anything they immediately discredit it because of the organizations terrorist like tactics.

One's that I have found good in the past:

viva.org.uk
veggiechick.com
goveg.com
animalaid.org.uk

although not ALL animals are treated as badly as on factory farms (although I know what your saying)
:)

Meat is prepared the most humane way posiible,

I know where you're coming from. It's frustrating sometimes when you know someone would be so disgusted by meat if they saw where it was from but won't open their eyes to it.

The 'meet your meat' video on the peta website is appalling but maybe a bit too hardcore for someone new to it.

Go on myspace and do a search for vegetarian and vegans and take a look around a few. Some people have really imaginative ways of getting the message across (and of course some are just fanatical nuts)! Some of the most powerful images, sayings and videos I've seen have been on myspace.

Good luck x

Well this is pretty disturbing

Of course, as one person mentioned, some places are better, and some may be worse, but it is all reality.
