I vont to ve a vegan?!
I vont to ve a vegan?
I want to go vegan, but my mom wont let me. She wont even let me become a vegetarian. She tricks me into eating meat; I have been refusing to eat it. I am a little mad; I feel really strong about this issue. And I have tried talking to her, but it doesnt help.what do i do?
P.S. dont give me the "Dont become a vegan" I have already made up my mind about this.
Answers:
how old are you?
it's your body, your choice.
try to make your food by yourself.
You should start volunteering to help with dinner if you don't already. That way you can make your own meals and you don't have to worry about what your mom tricks you into eating. I'm sure that will make your mom happy.
Have you tried asking her why she's opposed to it? Just tell her it's a big issue and it's really important.
If you are a child it is not your choice. You are not entitled to make important decisions like that until you are 18. If you wanna become a veggie freak after that then by all means go for it.
Just make your own meals then. And you get tricked into eating meat lmao thats one of the funniest things I've ever heard.
i think it is better to become a vegetarian only after 18 cause you will need the protein as a child for growth... umm.. maybe tell your mum that you want to make your own decisions and let you try becoming a vegetarian for a while... see whether you are ok with it.... you know... and try to make her happy all the time... as she is your mother, she should know what is best for you... if you dont like her decisions... tell me nicely and tell her why you want to become a vegan or vegetarian.
im a veg since 7. here get tips from this website. www.goveg.com also, find recipes that are strong in protein. ur mom is less likely to object with the material you give her
You just need to tell your Mom to respect your decision! Throw the meat up on your plate and maybe she will stop feeding it to you.............That's what I did!!!!

your mom does not need a reason for you to go vegan so do not bother trying to give her one.
First of all, Proteins are found in TONS of foods other then meat. So is Iron. Therefore if you eat enough veggies and fruits you will have just as much protein and iron as any meat eater would except, you wont have heart problems, clogged arteries or cancers caused by eating meat.

Contribute to the purchase of groceries and buy what you would like. Maybe she cannot afford to buy two sets of food, and this is why she is not caving to your demands. Also maybe she is worried that you will not get the proper nutrition. Before going full blown vegan, you need to study it thoroughly, get some meal plans and talk to a nutritionist, or a vegan that has been a vegan for years, and has gotten the balance of nutrition down. You need different types of protien so make sure you eat beans, and tofu. It takes a long time to learn to eat properly when cutting out meat completely. Just remember that your mother loves you and she just wants you to be healthy, so just start small, and work your way up until you are able to do it on your own.
Al sparagus is right.. If you are still a minor it is not your prerogative to decide what you'll eat, your parents still have sway over you to tell you what you might not want to be told. That is tough, I know, but anyway at your age, you're still growing and might need a little meat, but no one should eat more than the size of a deck of cards a day.
The whole point of vegetarianism is to eat more vegetables and eventually replace meat with them, not just to abstaining from meat, to act cool. Eat a well balanced diet. Dairy and meat are good for you at your age.
My guess is: parents usually listens to neighbours, relatives etc (ie non-professionals, gossipers) and believe that a vegan lifestyle will turn you into a pale, green and sickly person.
Educate them. The American Dietic Association is in view that a vegan lifestyle is beneficial to our health. Full text below:

your mom may be concern that you will not be getting enough nutrients and fall ill. And, yes. Vegans do fall ill. But was eating meat beneficial in the first place? Meat eating have been linked to cancer and many other dieases.
So you've made up your mind to eat a diet that is not complete for human beings and want to pout about your mom? You don't show the maturity to choose your own diet yet.
You might try intelligent persuasion instead of fighting and offer to cook good, tasty, healthy ovolactovegetarian foods the whole family would probably enjoy. And before you close your mind, read some real nutrition materials, not PETA's lies and distortions.
The same things happened to me before and still is. Ive gotten grounded quite a couple of times for being vegan even though Ive been extremely healthy and careful about it. The only way that you can really make it better is to cook your own food .Ive been doing this ever since she snuck chicken broth in my soup last may. Also make sure that you get enough information to help your case so that when she says something negative about veganism you'll be able to disprove her. Make sure that you get a vegetarian multivitamin and B12 supplement and you should be all set.
Whoever said, "Its your body....its your choice".........You are an idiot! I suppose if she wanted to start smoking crack and cutting herself, you'd be all for it?????? Its her body, eh?
Look, girlie.....when youre out on your own, paying your own way in life, eat all the hay and grass you want..............What makes you think you, as a teen living at home, that you are entitled to have ANYTHING your way????
Anyhow............when you do quit eating meat, know that I wont. In fact, Ill create more demand for it when I eat your share too!
