What is the biggest letdown you have had?!

Question:

What is the biggest letdown you have had?

ok i went to buy some captain crunch the other day because it was one of my childhood favorites. i decide to read the ingredients and i first come across whey and then mono and diglycerides . it seems like everytime someone offers me a donut or a cupcake that they have animal ingredients in them . i get so frustrated sometimes because the companies have to put animal ingredients in food that has nothing to do with animals. so for you other vegetarians and vegans what has been the most shocking food that you found animal ingredient(s) in??

by the way one of the most disappointing for me was krispy kreme donuts .

A recent letdown was when Kellogg's decided to respond to the drive to stop using battery eggs by killing off a bunch of the older products (specifically aimed at vegetarians and vegans) and replace them with high-egg content products! In case you don't know, Kellogg's now owns Morningstar Farms, Worthington, Loma-Linda and Natural Touch. It's such a sleazy move I decided to boycott everything made by any division of Kellogg's!

Edit:

Don't leave us in suspense! What brand etc. of popcorn was that!

Vegetarians do not eat fish. A fish eater is a Piscivore. Spread the correct word!

Nature has provided everything we need to survive, including animals.

There's more to being "Vegetarian" than eating a bunch of crap food. It kind of defeats the purpose, you might as well eat healthy food and not worry about animal products. OR do the best and eat vegetarian without eating crap.

Krispy Kreme is satanic food.

Oh wow, i had no idea that those ingredients were animal products. I don't eat those ways but sometimes i can't eat meat because it makes me sick to even smell so I know what you mean.Krispy Kreme?!?! Dang.

I find better alternatives, so nothing really upsets me...

And wow, so far your replies are really....creepy.

when my mom passed away we always thought she had left the house and land to my brother and all the contents to me,when she left us the will was read in front of us by a judge,my brother got the house and land,I got nothing but pictures and her clothes,my brother did give me all the contents in the house,I really felt like the black sheep of the family,I know I deserved the stuff but feel bad having it knowing she didnt want me to have anything...

My biggest let down was when i was talking to my neice and I was like i was soo into the brat pack when i was ur age. And i listed all these great movies!(breackfast club, 16candles,etc) She stared at me and then said "whos the brat pack? was that like a singing group?" I was SO disapointed and i felt old.

My biggest letdown was once i was in a restaurant and i ordered the 1/2 lb. burg and it turned out to be soy burg i could have cried. because since day 1 man eats meat same as the tigers. so hide your chickens cows and pigs. salad is what food eats

i was suprised to find non fat milk in Potato bread =)

Everytime I see a new brand of soy cheese I get all excited because I want to try it,then I read the ingredients and the soy cheese has casein in it.
:(

this is a cliche, but jello. i used to love jello when i was a little girl. i can't eat it anymore.
just a side note: why are people not reading your full question? these are some of the weirdest and most random answers ever!

Frosted Mini Wheats

For me, the biggest letdown was not letdown but a surprise. I was once sent to Dubai for 2 weeks by my boss where I used to work. When I arrived in Dubai, I came to know at customs that I needed to have a six months valid passport to get an entry. The problem could not be solved because I only had 3 months remaining on my passport to expire. Hence, I was refused entry and sent back by the same jumbo jet that flew me an hour ago from Karachi. There were some 10 to 15 passengers on this 737 and the air hostess asked me was I not in the return flight? I said yes and that bewildered her. Sorry, not so amazing story.

i was pretty disappointed when i found marshmellows had gelatin in them (i know thats a pretty obvious one, but it was still a bummer!). nutella was a hard one to accept too. grr

I was disappointed when I discovered that the Boca Spicy Chicken patties had egg in them but it is not listed in the "This Product contains Soy" sentence.

Also, disappointed that Moon Pies are so damn close!

Ewwww! What kind of popcorn has fish in it? I usually get the plain popcorn and put either hot sauce or olive oil and soymage parmesan on it.

I also have bought popcorn which contains fish, I'll never eat it being a vegetarian, but why fish? I can't understand that.
My biggest shock is to find that crushed, pregnant beetles are used to colour battenburg cake, which I love, but haven't had any for years because of that colouring. I don't know why the manufacturers can't use beetroot, or coal tar dyes. Or even change the colour. I wouldn't mind battenburg cake without the pink!

Mr Kipling do some Fondant "things" as a special Easter edition...they are all yellow and veggie.

The yellow ones they do for the rest of the year are NOT veggie.

Where is the sense in that ?

Are they trying to serve some sort of penance for thier sins at Easter or what ?
