Garlic Portabella veggieburger patties.?
i had one today on whole wheat bread and found them quit tasty.
they are vegetarian but are they considered a vegan food also?
and are they healthy?..
Answers:
That sounds delicious, and yes, it's very healthy.
It sounds vegan, but you'd have to check what exactly is in the bread.According to some, processed sugars aren't vegan because they're filtered using animal bone fragments. Also there could be milk in the bread.
Sounds great!Garlic,mushrooms,...They have got to be healthy!
The Portabella, not exactly the "beefsteak mushroom (Polypore)" but, close enough, because of it's meat-like texture and flavor is the one thing I might allow myself that would make me a vegetarian (only for that ONE meal mind you)...I love my beef, hamburgers and just about any meat product you could put in front of me.
For my taste, what you enjoyed in that veggieburger is a reasonable fascimile thereof a good 'ol fashion burger.
Are they healthy? You betcha!
Mushrooms are an excellent source of potassium.
One serving of mushrooms also provides about 20 to 40 percent of the daily value of copper.
Mushrooms are a rich source of riboflavin, niacin, and selenium.
Selenium can cut the risk of prostate cancer by 65 percent.
Bon Appetit!
If you're talking about the "Veggie Patch" brand then I believe that they have a diary ingredient in them. They have cultured whey in them and therefore would not be vegan.
