For the religious replies you will have to be more specific. I'm Baptist and many wonderful meats are the first thing you come to at the potluck table. Also, the gross issue doesn't bother me because I've cleaned fish and ate them. It was a delicious bass. And Peta?? I eat Gyros on Peta bread. Yum

Ok, I logged on to peta.com. Now I want some KFC. They cut the face off. It's not like it watches you while you eat.

The heating meat to a certain temperature to kill bacteria doesn't really work for me. You wash your produce don't you? And there have been produce recalls. Spinnach? And if you consider the fish rotting I guess the greens are also. They are no longer living. Some one did say something interesting though. "It isn't easy being a vegitarian" I assumed you all liked it.

I don't want to be as round as your friend
Costanza.

Have you ever seen wild cows?

I hear ya! BORING! I love meat. We barbecued buffalo last night.. that was fun.

because they dont want to eat a animal that was once a living thing

Spend a summer working in a kosher slaughterhouse and then ask me again.

because they have visited the Peta website and had gotten traumatized (don't go there unless you want to see the most nasty and horrifying videos you have ever seen in your life)

I do eat meat, but would like to go vegetarian. The religous group, 7th Day Adventists have mostly veggie members and are the largest group of people with the LOWEST colon cancer rate. That's a great reason to be vegetarian! My g/ma died of colon cancer..:( She ate a lot of meat, too.

Plants are once alive, too. You don't hear them b*tching about that.

hi, i would think that someone would want to be a vegetarian because the don't want to put unnecessary junk into their bodies. fried food and sweets just clog up your arteries.
i really think God wanted us to use better judgment in what we eat than what we generally do.

If we're not supposed to eat animals, why are they made out of meat?

Spirtitual - not taking another animal's life

Health - a veggie diet is much more healthful

Environment - meat-based diets overuse and pollute freshwater

Economics - it's cheaper not to eat animals

My question is: Why on earth would anyone NOT be a vegetarian?

maybe its just they wanna show off!!! =))

because they are a religious sap or feel sorry for animals that are already dead. what doesn't make sense is, its already dead, its even worse to waste the animals death for the meat to just rot rather than just eat.

Because heart disease sucks.

because they are happier that way................are u a vegetarian? and it does sometimes give you better health for some people

For this question of yours, there are many answers. For one, They are plenty of people who are vegetarians because of their religious backgrounds. So basically, they have absolutely no choice in the matter, especially children. If they refuse to beleive in the religion that their parents are involved with or they simply refuse to be a vegetarian like the religion states, then their mother and fateher might feel that that brings shame unto the family. Now, for two, Some people are vegetarians because of health reasons. Like if a person has been born with allergies that prevent them from eating any red meat of any kind, then that would provoke the vegetarian thing, too. Also, if the person is largely over weight, then their doctor might describe to them ceartain vegetarian meals that have lots of proteins and other minerals that meat packs, but the vegetables will also carry. Now, for three, in some cases, people might experiment with the thought and action of becoming a vegetarian because they are either terribly bored with being an everyday "meat-eater" or they just want to try something new. And probably the idea of becoming a vegetarian seems "cool". You'll never know why people do the things that they do these days, especiallly teenagers. Now, lastly, just to let you know, I am a vegetarian and I have become on ebecause of my allergies to red meats. And with that, have a good day mate.

I don't want to eat anything with a face. I don't want to know that an animal died for my taste buds. I don't wanna eat anything that was once a living thing.

bigsave2: babies have meat on them, should we eat them too? If your religious, religious literature says that we should be kind to our animals, and not contribute to their harm.

However it's a personal decision.

Only a creepy-creepo weirdy would be a vegetarian. I love meat and would die without it.

p.s. I have had second hand experience of a vegetarian-vegan. My cousin is one.

Why would anyone on earth want to eat rotting flesh?

They are just a bunch of wannabe bees!!!!

Its not just all about health issues. itz deeper than that. Animals are mass slaughtered with merely no reason only but for human lame reason to kill more than what they need... Vegitarianism is one way of loving the world... fighting for animal rights, itz a silent protest against human brutality and unreasonable manipulation of nature brought by greed and abuse of power over lesser beings of the earth. we don't need to force people to understand us because we know itz simply hard to understand especially to see things not knowing their under a blindfold that casts down the light of itz realization... we are not a cult, thatz what most people think... we are simply advocates of animal liberation

why would anyone climb the everest? why would anyone want to live in the arctic or in alaska? it's a human thing called choice. obviously yo haven't watched the movie matrix. it's what makes humans humans.

I find Vegetarian food tastes better and it also ruduces your Ecological Footprint.

because of the treatment of the meat in the slaughtering business. there are so many hormones in the meat nowadays the fifth grades have larger boobs than girls my age!
honestly, you have to think about your health and the ethical treatment of living beings such as chickens and cows that are mistreated every day for our fatasses

they`re many reasons, my cousins got tired of eating meat(weird I didnt get it,he said it dosent taste the same) I guess because of how animals are now injected to make them grow faster, yes religion is one but I`m christian so...,some people hate the slaughtering of animals ( not everyone can tolerate that!, I do know when I saw those poor helpless bigs I felt really bad for them

i'm assuming that since you asked this question, you've got an open mind and are willing to truly find out the answer.

read "diet for a new america" by john robbins. the information in this book is well worth your time. it'll explain everything you need to know about vegetarianism and challenges all the protests and claims you'll hear against vegetarianism.

best wishes.

The reason I became a vegitarian is because I think its gross eating an animal. To me its like eating a human. Being a vegitarian is not easy.

The better question would be "Why does anyone want to use their body as a graveyard for rotting dead animal flesh?" It just doesnt make sense when you can get everything you need from a veggie diet. Meat has to be cooked to a certain temperature to kill off bacteria and parasites, and contains purines, amines, cholesterol, blood, pus, urine, fecal matter, antibiotics, steroids, growth hormones, whatever diseases the animal had and lots of other gross stuff.

Why be so closed minded? To each his own.

I am a vegetarian because meat is disgusting. It's gross when you can feel the tissue in the flesh you are eating rip. Its even worse when meat squishes around your teeth. So, I guess its mostly a texture thing for me. Plus I can grow all of my food and not rely on the filthy, preservative-laden foods that the grocery store sells.

no one on this earth is vegetarian as the plants are also a living thing.
