Your opinion on animal welfare and vegentairism (if that is how you spell it)?
Okay. So here is the thing. I have been struggling with the decision to become a Vegan. I don't agree with animal cruelty, killing them for clothes, mistreating them or experimenting on them. However, I don't think that because someone like me eats meat it means they can't be a animal lover. People have said someone who eats meat and then calls themselves an animal lover is an hypocrite. But what about those who say they care about humans and they love humans and they wish for world peace but yet they support those who goes and fights in war and kills people, or they support revenge on others. I don't know. Maybe this makes me a bad person in your eyes. But I know I am not. I do love animals and I love all people that's why I support love and forgiveness and I don't support cruelty. Maybe I will end up becoming a vegan but I do want to make the right choice. I know animal cruelty should be a good enough reason to choose to be vegan but I want to be careful. What do you think?

I sense you are struggling with this because part of you is questioning your current lifestyle . On the one hand you Love animals , wish them no harm .. on the other hand you eat animals which in turn causes them harm . Yes this has been a dilemma for many humans. The real decision is, do "ALL" animals " deserve the same respect and compassion, do all of them have the right not be mistreated and the right to live .. In other words is the pig is equal to the dog, the lamb is equal to the cat , the duck is equal to parrot ....... Equal in the sense that they have the same right to live a happy , free from cruelty life .. When those of us decided that first ..... , it is unnecessary to eat them to survive a long happy life , then second, ...... you are only taking their life because you like the way they taste ........ the decision became easy and clear .. We have given up eating them and become Ethical Vegetarians or Vegans . I say the word you in a general sense , not directed at you as an individual .. With that said only you (the individual) can make this decision of what you feel is right and wrong ..We all were faced with dilemmas and challenges throughout life and the best you can do is chose the path which you believe will be right and just . I do not see you as a bad person nor do I think many would . The more informed you become on what really goes on and how badly animals are treated you will come to understand why most Vegans abhor meat eating , but NOT the meat eater .. I also think that most Vegans or at least all the Ethical Vegans I know are opposed to war , human suffering and in fact do go out of their way to help their fellow man .. these are not two different people ; people who Love and help animals are often the ones helping mankind as well .. I sincerely wish you the best .. and if you do decide to become vegan then this forum is a great place for nutritional advise and recipes .. as well as suggesting many books you can buy or get from the library .. Good luck

I think you could be an animal lover and still eat meat...you would just be someone who loves the taste of flesh more than you love the animal itself. Maybe one day you will reach the point where you love the animal alive more than the taste of meat, maybe you won't. Does this make you a bad person? I don't know - I'm not your judge and jury here. The things you've listed here, like wars and revenge, can be complex things for some people or matters of straightforward philosophies for others. There are tradeoffs in all aspects of life, and you know in your heart what is right for you to do, or what you're capable of.
You don't need our permission to be vegan (or vegetarian) or our warnings against it, you just need to decide whether you are willing to give it a try, whether you'll continue eating meat, or just decide to reduce it. You'll decide whether you want to be for animal welfare (which sounds closest to the views in your post), whether you want to go as far as animal *rights*, or whether you'll just try to ignore what happens to the animals entirely. You seem like you've already put some thought into it, and I bet you will think on it more in the future as well. Good luck!
you are probably right on the "animal-welfare" part. but an "animal-lover" or an "animal-rights" person would choose not to eat meat. It is about respecting the animals' right to live its natural life cycle of birth, aging, reproduction and death. Like a dog-lover would never dream of eating his/her beloved pet.
A human who wishes for world peace should not support for wars and revenge.
