Well yeah, if you leave them on the shelf, they get nasty. Soy burgers go in the freezer, man.
(And yeah, most of them are nasty in my opinion - the chicken/fish soy patties are soooo much better.)
They have half life of 300 years. They do have some uses, I heard New York was considering using them to fill in pot holes. San Francisco was considering using them to control the homeless population after learning that an entire homeless community left Florida after the shelters and soup kitchens started feeding them soy meat.
