How long can I store tvp?!

Question:

How long can I store tvp?

Answers:
Textured Vegetable Protein

TVP? has a long shelf life if stored properly and is an excellent source of protein and fiber.
Storage is a breeze -- TVP? can sit in a cupboard in a sealed container for at least a year. If sealed airtight (without oxygen), the shelf life is greatly extended (although, with its great taste and ease of preparation, you won't leave it hiding anywhere for very long!) As always, for the longest storage life it should be kept in a cool, dry place. Due to the moisture in many varieties of TVP?, storage after opening is better in a dry place away from excessive heat.

My father-in-law stored it in 5 gallon buckets with lids. Of course, he bought in bulk. But any type storage that is closed very well will do...from a plastic ziplock bag to a quart jar, if you only have small amounts to store. Keep in a cool dry place.

Hmm... I don't really know. Mine never lasts that long... LOL. I would imagine since it's dehydrated that it would last a long time...? Months?

So long as it remains dry and sealed up, you can store TVP pretty much indefinately. I tend to run through mine too, but when I first went veg, I had some for about year that was fine.

Practically forever. That's why it's a veggie staple in isolated places with not many veggies. Places that won't/can't carry things like tofu, can order a few bags of it and keep it around indefinitely. I think there is an expiration date on the packet though
