Mushroom identification?!

Question:

Mushroom identification?

This year i decided to take up mushroom hunting as a hobby i have found a lot of unique mushrooms but i cant seem to identify vary many........i beleive i have some psychedelic mushrooms but i cant id them correctly can anyone help me please?

Answers:
I studied mycology extensively for about 2 years and have over 10 previous years of mushroom hunting experience for chanterelles, matsutakes, boletas, lobsters and many others including ethnobotanical varieties in the pacific northwest.

It takes a keen eye and lots of knowledge on mushroom anatomy to seperate poisonous ones from the edible or hallucinogenic ones. I wouldn't recommend taking anyones advice online, not even my own truly as age of the mushroom..how long ago it was picked..conditions its kept in can change attributes about the way it looks.

If you send me pictures of a lot of them I can try and cure your curiousity for you, but I won't and by doing so am not endorsing the idea you consume or give them to anyone.

Don't even try to identify a mushroom. Even mushroom experts make mistakes. There are entire families that are killed because they picked mushrooms that they thought were safe.

And if you are lucky enough not to be killed by mushroom poison, then you will be put on a waiting list for a liver transplant .

Here is a recent case:

Most experts will tell you not to eat any mushrooms you find in the wild, as they can cause severe sickness or poisoning. Anything you eat from the wild is at your own risk.

If you plan to eat them anyway, at least look at mushroomexpert.com

You should NEVER try to identify mushrooms without proper instruction from someone who knows. Check out your library or the internet for information on a Mycology organization in your area. These people know their fungi & will be able to teach you which ones are good & which are poisonous. It can be hard to tell a Pink Bottom from a Destroying Angel & one is delicious & the other can kill you. Be careful!!! Please!

some ways to know if u have psychedelic shrooms is if they have specks of blue on the caps n stems...

they actually can be a wide range of diff kinds...

i would just try them if ur not afraid of a trip....or u can make mushroom tea...see if u feel anyhting funny

Mushrooms are tricky sometimes. You need to first decide
whether the mushrooms you got are poisonous or not. You to that by Spore testing.. You can get a book on this from your local library. Also you can get the Book: Edible fugus in the
Woods! Or Some book on mushroom picking in your local library.. Tell your librarian what U want and if she/he's a good librarian will help you get what U want. Some libraries do have lazy librarians all they care about is keeping the books in order and keeping things quiet. Such libraries their patronage goes down and they shorten their hours! If You do proper testing on mushrooms or even plants you can eat them if they are deemed edible. Good tests are 97% accurate! The tests maybe a lot of work but your health is important. The Devil mushroom is so white that it looks good to eat but if you eat it you can die. Yet a gram of it is good to combat athletes foot! Everything has a purpose. Some people have to take risks. If no one took any risks then
we'd still be eating gourds and whey like in the olden days!
Just be wise and know what you're doing! Not trying is for Scareddies... whimps! The Devil Mushroom is sometimes called a Destroying Angel or Pink Bottoms. Usually if they have a yellow or green bottom they are not Devil mushrooms
they are edibles and they often have colored brown or orange
speckles you would normally think these are not edible if you don't know! Remember Devils do things backwards whether it's plants or whatever.. Devils love to confuse. As for psychidelic mushrooms there maybe some edibles but if
you take the wrong ones they can give you a hi like being strung out on dope. My cousin Jerry experienced this! It didn't kill him! Everything has a use just we don't know the uses intended for everything!
