What books can you recommend on vegetarianism?!

Question:

What books can you recommend on vegetarianism?

Answers:
Also good "The Omnivores Dilemma". The first third of the book is dedicated to factory farming, and goes into great detail of beef production in particular. The author is not a vegetarian, so there is less of an agenda than with some books. The next part of the book is in detail about the industrial corn farming and the amount of by-products and frankenfood in convenience foods. Whatever your decision, this is good knowledge to have.

go to a health food store or a natural food store they should have a good selection.good luck.make sure you get all the vitamins and iron your diet may be lacking to be healthy.

Diet for a New America by John Robbins

the moosewood cookbooks (there are several now) are probably the most comprehensive cookbooks for vegetarianism out there- i love and grew up with them (and am NOT a vegetarian, they're just that good)....they talk in-depth about food origins, but also about the things that are important in a vegetarian diet, the ethics of it, etc. check them out- also an amazing restaurant in upstate new york!

my favorite is 'sundays at moosewood,'- lots of ethnic cuisine and explanations about them!

Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine by Gabriel Cousens, MD

The most important thing to remember is to eat your greens. They are very high in calcium and a complete source of protein.(Boutenko)
