Is it true that a vegetarian saves 100 animals?!

Question:

Is it true that a vegetarian saves 100 animals?

on average in a lifetime?

Answers:
It is 100 per year.

Yes, that is true. But, since I eat two animals for every one you don't, on average it's a wash...

probably more when you think of chickens and fish.

i doubt you would get through many cows.

maybe.,,,,but have you ever though that someone dumb can kill every 100 of those animals, single hadidly or with a gun...thers always someone dumb that will single handly kill off 100 animals...and really not saving S***...but its fine....animals are killed of for mutliple reasons,,,there coats, meat, babies, teeth, intestinse,,,many things,,,,there HORNS....i think theres nothing wrong with a vegitatrian but there is something wrong with saying that they save animals when really they dont becuse theres always someone out there messing the cycle up!

you have to understand now, being a vegan isn't going to change much in the world now. cos the way i see it, we're part of the food chain now, and we need to serve this purpose so that there aren't any over population of any cows or chicken or whatever we eat. so just go out there and eat what you like not in beliefs. (not trying to offend anyone but my opinion) saves 100 animals, i would say myth

Hope they don't have anything else to do with animals - leather suites - shoes - suede - etc etc etc

Probably true -- not only that but they help save forests --clearcutting and air pollution are also affected positively when more people eat vegetarian.

I have never heard that a vegetarian saves 100 animals, per se, but there does exist a theory that for every pound of beef eaten, 100 pounds of grain were used (eaten by the animal over its lifetime). Other quantities of grain have also been suggested, but it is accepted that significantly more than one pound of grain is required to feed a pound of meat. Some theorists believe that if everyone ate lower on the food chain (i.e., ate no meat or little meat), the land used for grazing animals could be used for growing crops for human consumption, thus greatly reducing or even eliminating the problem of the hunger epidemic in the third world.

Please understand that this is only a theory, but it is something to think about and/or research if you are considering becoming a vegetarian (or, maybe, staying one?). If it's the right choice for you, it may be one way that you can live a little more lightly on the planet and perhaps even have an impact on another human.

For sure vegetarian prolongs at least one animal's life... Your own.

Prolly more.

I hope so, then there will be plenty left for me.

it saves more than that

I READ IF YOU'RE A VEGAN YOU CAN SAVE 90 ANIMALS A YEAR!
