Theres saturates in potatoes and vegan pasta and vegan pasta sauce and fruit and vegan gravy and vegan sweets and vegan chocolate so does saturates means it comes from animals if so then the vegan food are not really vegan. Iam getting different answers from everyone on yahoo and what they say is so confusing ive just turned vegan and i dont know much about saturates. Please help

saturated fats can be in all kind of things, the reason they're often mentioned in the same sentence as meat, is because meats are very high in saturated fat, and diets high in saturated fat are linked to health problems. Saturated fat does not mean the fat from an animal.

Is this what you are referring to? If so I think that it has to be from animal sources and potatoes, fruit, etc do not have saturated fats as referred to above.
As to pasta and pasta sauce, gravies, sweets and chocolate, remember again if there is an animal product then there are saturated fats BUT since they are vegan I'm sure that there are NO animal products used in processing.
OK, I think you're getting conflicting answers because your question is unclear.
If by "saturates" you mean saturated fat, then yes, there are plant sources of saturated fat. Palm kernel oil is one popular one that is used in many cheaper foods. The only way to know the source of saturated fat in foods is to read the ingredient listing. The nutritional information is not going to give you that information.
Saturated Fats are not animal products, they are type of fats found in everything. Nuts for example. The problem is that saturated fats are bad fats and therefore you have to limit your intake of these. Pay attention to things like gelatin as that definitely isn't vegan!
