Are there any raw, living food, or health stores in Kansas?!

Question:

Are there any raw, living food, or health stores in Kansas?

I am moving to kansas in a month and I am really getting into healthy living and specifically vegan and raw food dishes. In California-we are at the cutting edge of that lifestyle-but I have no idea what awaits in Kansas. Can I even get organic veggies? All help is appreciated.

Answers:
you should not have a problem finding health stores

i live around the kansas city, MO area and LOVE going over to the Kansas side to do some shopping

Whole Foods
Wild Oats
Farmer's Markets....easy to find on the Missouri side too

but then again it depends on where you are moving to in KS

the closer you are to MO as i am thinking the more populous bigger the cities and towns.......but A LOT of Kansas is still very rural

good luck

The answer to your question will depend on where in Kansas you are going to be. There are stores that have "organic" foods in the Kansas City area. Lawrence and Manhattan also have stores that offer alternatives to the "regular fare" found in the typical supermarket. I am guessing that Wichita would probably also have this as an option.

Many cities and small towns in Kansas have "farmer's markets" where local vendors sell a variety of home-grown or locally-produced items and products, including some organic vegetables and fruits. This not only is a great option to meet the food needs of your lifestyle, it is a great way to get to know folks who live in your city or town.

Hope this helps. Good luck on your plans to move to Kansas!
