Best aromatic oil to use?!
Best aromatic oil to use?
Getting ready to go on a long road trip. Can someone recommend 1) an essential oil I can use to relax me so I am not stressed about bridges or high areas (but not put me into unconciousness) 2) an essential oil to revive me and wake me up.
Answers:
Rosemary, Basil and Peppermint are going to be your best bet for the alert and awake request. I think that you want to avoid oils that will 'relax' you. Let's say that you want to reduce anxiety. Geranium, Spearmint, Mandarin Petitgrain, Linden and Jasmine are good for that. You can make a blend and put in on a cloth and keep it in the car, use it to dust the dash...that kind of thing. There are also diffusors for the car that plug into the lighter and are a tiny fan that blows air across a fiber pad. They are kind of neat, but there is a lot of plastic and the pads need replacing when you want to run a different blend. I used to sell them and no longer carry them.

tea tree oil....i actually use it both as a calmer and a waker-upper....it is nice and minty, and gives just a bit of a tingle that is completely soothing. the mint can be a pick-me-up, as well...
i actually used to use tea tree oil wipes (like makeup removers) on my face and pressure points when i had a really stressful job at a theatre- made me feel alert and calm all at once...
roman or german chammomile or lavander to relax.
Eucalyptus or patchouli to revive.
Lavender oil is very calming, and peppermint oil is stimulating. I highly recommend Bach Rescue Remedy, which is a combination of flower essences that reduce anxiety (you take drops) I have used Rescue Remedy for my child from the time she was a toddler-super effective stuff. She is now 12, and uses it before tests or other stresses, and she is a straight A student. Good luck on your trip. (you can get rescue remedy at any health food store)
