It says microwave popcorn produces chemicals in factories that give you some kind of popcorn lung cancer thing.
Is this true and does it effect us eating it at home?
Answers:
be it popcorn or any other food item, why would you want to use the microwave anyway? why cook your food in radiation?
I dont know how "deadly" it is, but there is lots of info on the net about dangers of microwaving your food. I dont own a mw, I think food turns out tastless especially when defrosted that way. I prefer real oven that gives "the crunch"; it takes longer time for all flavours to mix, but its much more delicious that way. :) Good things take time.
Even though making my own popcorn takes only 3 mins tops! And that way I decide how much oil I want to add.
if it gets stuck in your throat and chokes you, then I call that fairly deadly.
as for the other stuff....meeeh
Apparently everything causes cancer so just do everything in moderation.
I don't trust anything that cooks in a bag.... Just look at the ingredients list--it's quite icky. But I will pass this on to my bf.
as with most scare stories in medicine, the people who were affected by microwave popcorn were those working IN the factories, who were repeatedly exposed to high volumes of the chemical on a daily basis. no, it is not a concern at home.
really like a couple of ppl said here already microwaved ANYTHING is deadly
microwaves directly put radiation into our food....AND kill off the nutrients in the food
why is it in the united states we suffer from cancer and other ills that are rare to find in other countries???
i have finally convinced my husband to get rid of our microwave......for those quick food heating needs i looking into purchasing a convection/toaster oven
I ddon't think its deadly... factory workers would be exposed to this chemical for hours a day 5 days a week for years while the common person only eats it probably once a week and gets exposed for about an hour... btw people microwaves use radiowaves (or so I've heard form some movie in school.) to heat things so are you saying those are radioactive and are going to hurt you too?
