Answers:
Make sure you get all the proper nutrition. Maybe get a book on vegetarianism and a cookbook. Check out http://www.llu.edu/llu/nutrition/vegguid... or http://www.utexas.edu/courses/ntr311/nut... and get a copy of the Vegetarian Food Pyramid. Also, check out http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/teennutriti...
Some excellent sources of protein are:
10-20 g per serving:

Kidney Beans
Tofu
6-12 g per serving:
Whole Grain Bagels

Sunflower Seeds
Silverbeet
Chickpeas
Cashew Nuts
Lima Beens
Cottage Cheese
Peas
2-8 g per serving:
Whole Grain Bread
Milk
Other Vegetables
Rice

Yoghurt
I also suggest that you eat organic foods.
I hope you enjoy your new lifestyle.

The USDA site is helpfull in not only what you eat but it also helps you analyze what and how you eat.
IF and I mean IF the vegan thing works for you within a month or so then stick with it, remember you also need to be active, wether excerice or be pro active! know what you eat and what is good for you.
At your age you are still growing and need ALL the essential MICRO and MACRO nutrients in order to be healthy now and in twenty years.
Check out information in your local LIBRARY and look into some vegan cook books as well.
As far as me, I'll eat it as long as it doesn't fight me back!!!
don't eat tender juicy meeeeaaaat. oh i smell my mom makeing breaded chicken right now it smells soooooo good i can't wait my mouth is watering.
Organic nuts and seeds are great. Soak them overnight before eating.
http://radicalhealth.com/ has much information to guide you.
e.g.
..." Raw Foods protect against protein poisoning. Many people have fallen prey to the "to little protein myth". They continually focus on and over eat protein which results in acidosis (highly acid body fluids). During our life cycle we mature fastest between birth and 18 months when our only food should be mother's milk which is 3-5% protein. When we are mature, we require even less protein as we've finished building on our primary bone and tissue. The abundance of high quality, protein in greens, nuts and seeds is perfect to keep our body running at peak performance without the protein poisoning problems of fish, foul, meat, dairy, rice, grains and soy."..
... " I'd soak all my nuts and seeds and limit my intake of these as they're way too high in protein to eat often and a primary contributer of Subclinical Inflammation, next the unholy Soy/Rice/Grain trio. "
Vegetarian proteins are mostly found in nuts, tofu, and a little in grains. Eating peanut butter and jelly sandwich on whole grain bread is actually not a "bad" meal. If you do not eat eggs or cheese and do not drink cow's milk, you will need to invest in some Brewer's yeast and add lots of this to your diet in order to get your completed proteins. At your age, you should make sure you are getting enough calcium as well as your proteins, Beans and rice (mixture of brown and wild rice are best) meals with a large dusting of Brewer's yeast along with a salad with a variety of items in it, carrots, peppers, sprouts etc. and a desert of fruit or fruit smoothie made with soy milk will do you well. Drink fruit juices fortified with calcium. Make sure you get enough calories, watch to make sure you get enough fats as well, you need some for your immune system. I would advise you get a book about vegetarian diets and study up so you don't accidentally leave out some important nutrition. Talk to your doctor if you can. Vegetarians are just as healthy as meat eaters, but you can be just as unhealthy as a vegetarian, as you can be as a meat eater. Did that make sense? Good luck, being a vegetarian isn't just eating what meat eaters eat without the meat. Tofu turkeys do exist for nutritional reasons. And because they look funny at Thanksgiving time.
Go on amazon.com and look for a book called 'VEGETABLES ROCK' because its great for teenagers. It was written by a parent of a vegetarian who later was inspired by her daughter and became a vegetarian herself. Also, check out www.vrg.org - its the vegetarian resource group and its AWESOME. Here are some options for protein:
Amy's California Burger,
Black beans with your favorite spices- eat them with brown rice.
Hummus and whole wheat pitas
Luna Bars are a great snack and they have 10grams of protein each.
Vegetarian Chili with Tofutti Sour Cream on top is great.
Stir fried veggies with tofu.
vegetarian lasagna with a tofu blend and spinach.
Bean burritos with sauteed peppers and squash
These are all easy and relatively quick. Let me know if you need more info. Stick with it!
Congratulations !!!!
What a wise decision !!!!

I love Morningstar Farms products. They have chicken patties, several types of veggie burgers, black bean burgers, bacon, etc. and they are all delicious and lowfat.
Congratulations on going veggie and good luck!
Yay for vegetarians!
Eat plenty of raw foods. Nuts, seeds, fruits, and greens. Leafy greens are a VERY important part of the veg diet.
Avoid fake meat. It is not really that good for you but once in a while is OK of course.
