How can I help my pet?!
How can I help my pet?
A dog I just recently acquired is not doing so well. I have been feeding it vegan dog food, but it just doesn't seem to want to eat. Any tips?

Vets eat meat themselves and I would never get advice from a person who eats meat. That is just wrong.

New material "Foxhunter". Please. *yawn*
Any tips... hmmm...
Well, from the obvious, that I don't think your dog shares the same Vegan beliefs as you do. If this was a recently acquired dog, then it probably isn't use to the sudden shock to its system in being changed into something it isn't.
Dude... its cool that you love animals, I love them as well, but you can't pass your beliefs on to another animal...
Take it to the Vet, and have blood drawn to check for normal kidney functions, this sudden change could have caused damage.

Didn't you get information about what your dog ate before?
You shouldn't change their foodhabits drasticly....
Try to find out and give it the same thing otherwise I would suggest that you try vetenerian dry food or go to your vet and consult him or her.
I would see a vet. Whilst it is completely acceptable (and commendable) to feed your dog a vegan diet, perhaps there is another cause.
Good luck, I hope your pet has no serious problems.
I think every animal that has canine teeth eats meat as a natural diet. And I'm sure Vegan is a vegetarian diet, so it seems that you are imposing your vegetarian views on your animal, and the animal does not agree with you! Correct? So I would go out and buy your dog his or her natural food, and watch him wolf it down! His or her coat will have a nice shine in weeks! Have a good day.
It may have the flu. Try potato skin broth
The skins from 7 potatoes -chunky
Garlic 5 cloves - not 5 bulbs
Carrots
Celery
gallon of water-purified
you can add the meat of the potato -optional
boil, simmer 30 min, cool to room temp, strain, serve
You can serve with or without straining
The potato skin, is a great source of vitamin C, vitamin B6, copper, potassium, manganese, and dietary fiber. And potato skins contain a ton of Iron
We tried this on our puppy when we first got him from the pound. He wasn't eating and what he did get down he threw up. This recipe worked with great results!
I admire your stance on not wanting to seek advice from meat-eaters. Very commendable.
I've recently found out that the Yahoo Answers support staff are also meat-eaters. May i suggest you stop using this site.
Just a friendly, supportive vegetarian piece of advice for you Mr foxy.
how would you be feeling if you were given only non vegan food? its the same thing .
there are plenty of good, balanced dried foods around that will give your dog all the correct nutrition it 'needs'. go out & get some.
just give it normal dog food
my advice would be to ask your vet. there may be a way of slowly introducing vegan food to your dog. however, if it is a puppy, meaty food may be neccesary to help it grow in early years.
im a vegetarian myself, so i understand how you feel, but i really think you should seek the advice of a vet. They want to help animals themselves, otherwise they wouldnt have become vets. If you really dont want to do this, then perhaps see if you can find a vegetarian vet, but it is impossible to avoid meat-eaters in everything you do.
best of luck!
a dog is animal.it eats meat. give your dog proper dog food.
You shouldn't assume just because someone eats meat they give bad advice. At the end of the day if you care about your dog, you will consider the dogs welfare and health above all else and take him to a vet.
Also are you sure the vegan food you are feeding him has all the nutrients he requires?
