Is yogurt really a fungus/mold?
my dad says it but i dont know if it is ?
Answers:
its rotten milk
yogurt does have active cultures in it the cultures are bacteria but theyre good for you
It's a mould.....
No it's not. It is a milk product, where they add a special bacteria to it that makes it into yogurt and that bacteria is very good for you.
Yogurt is a dairy product produced by bacterial fermentation of milk. Fermentation of the milk sugar (lactose) produces lactic acid, which acts on milk protein to give yogurt its gel-like texture and its characteristic tang.
Sorry no fungus or mold.
It's rotten cheese...yuck.
it has active bacterial cultures that are good for your digestive and urinary tracts, but it is not fungus or mold.
it is a mold
Yogurt is milk with a bacteria culture, NOT A MOLD, added to partially digest the milk protein and thicken it. Your body is full of bacteria, both good and bad.
Yogurt is made from bacterial fermentation of milk. This means that they put certain strains (types) of bacteria into the milk and then ferment (basically meaning causing it to spoil) it under specific conditions. The bacteria takes in milk sugars and releases lactic acid as a waste. The lactic acid increases the acidity in the substance you know have, which causes the milk proteins to become tangled into something more solid, creating the curd.
Yogurt isn't fungus, but in fact it is sometimes (eaten) used to battle certain fungal infections, like those in yeast infections and other problems you might get on your mouth, tongue, or feet.
As far as mold, this is not contained in yogurt either. If you do find mold on it, throw it out!
So you can tell your dad on these two counts that he is wrong, however I have a feeling in context his point was that yogurt is gross. Being that it is made be leaving milk out with bacteria, I hope I have at least helped prove his broader point. Know what your food is before you eat it!
No, your father might be a little confused. He might be thinking of mushrooms or something. But yogurt is made with bacteria. This bacteria is similar to those that live within your digestive tract. It betters regularity and intestine function.
No, it's milk mixed with one of many bacteria cultures that are beneficial to your digestive system.
I believe that the *process* used to make yogurt allows a lot of mold to grow on it, however, yogurt, itself, is not a mold. Mold is not always visible when it is present. I have a mold allergy and am doing some research to figure out if I should avoid yogurt. I think I should avoid it.
