They’re tasty and wholesome

They can make you happy when you’re feeling low

Well I am vegetarian and i dont eat fish or poultry...idk if you do but back to the problem. You can start by cutting out red meat from your diet then chicken and turkey and then soon you can start on salads, sandwiches, and soup without meat. Not eating meat makes me feel healthier and much happier knowing i am not eating an animal!! You can ask me any additional questions!! :)
first off. it lowers your bad cholestrol and helps with your good cholestrol. it reduces the risk of hert disease and most vegs live longer than omnivores. another thing you wont be supporting animal abuse or crulety. and DON'T worry about protein becuase the average american consumes TOO MUCH protein. just eat your peanut butter and beans. there is soooo much more but my brain just exploded
Eat a nice big bowl of salad. :]]
It's low fat and requires no killing. You do have to be careful to stay properly nourished, but it can be done. Many vegans are fat due to the excess of carbohydrates and minimal protein, but that can be corrected by choosing high protein foods. If you are vegetarian and eat fish or fowl, it's really easy.
If all else fails, stick to rice and beans! If you eat them together (or within a few hours of each other) they combine to make the amino acid proteins that your body needs, and usually gets from animal products.
Trader Joe's has looots of easy to make veggie items. Look for textured soy protein, which is used in fake "meats," like chickenless breaded nuggets, fake bacon, some veggie burgers, and tofurkey. This is good for you, because protein is one of the main things you are going to find yourself looking for becoming vegetarian.
Nuts and beans are really really really good for you! Eat as many of these as possible!
Another important thing to keep in mind, especially if you're going vegan or elimintating eggs and/or milk from your diet is the vitamin B12. This is something that is found naturally ONLY in animal by-products and is something that your body needs. Even if you are still consuming dairy and eggs, it's a good idea to take B12 supplements. Also, Total cereal is great! It has all the vitamins and minerals you need, including B12.
Insider tip: if you live in California and love In-N-Out burgers, don't fret! Order a grilled cheese with grilled onions from the secret menu- it tastes just like the burgers!
There are tons of great books and websites out there with all kinds of info. It's very important to keep your nutrition in mind. Even if you feel like you can live off salad, it's important to know that you can't! Your body needs lots more vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that must be obtained from all different sources. Check out PETA, even if you are against what they do and their bad rep. They have lots of great resources and you can get a FREE vegetarian starter kit with lots of info anf great recipes! check out goveg.com.
Great decision! I know it's tough, but don't give up, it is so worth it! Feel free to contact me if you need any more help, info, or support!
P.S. Vegetarians live an average of 15 years longer than your average omnivore!
If you want a balanced diet I would consider finding some good indian cook books. The central part of India has been vegetarian for many many generations and as such they have excellent balanced meals that are easy to make and will help you maintain a vegetarian diet. The food has so much flavor you won't feel like your missing out on anything. Look for Gujrati Cookbooks.
Well first of all don't just switch like that. I would read up tons of stuff before you do, switching from one diet to another can be dangarous and unhealty. I would start be cutting down on meat, you body has gotten used to meat for a very long time. I would eat less and less over the coming months raither than just crash it and suffer any withdraw sytmpoms. I would start to replace meat with stuff like tofu (but not too much) and other non-meat products that are high in protein, after a while on a low-meat diet and your health or well being is ok then go for a total non-meat diet. But in the mean time if your not ok on a low-meat diet then your body is missing something and you need to look into it.
"P.S. Vegetarians live an average of 15 years longer than your average omnivore!"
