HELP! FDA aprroved site on what jello is made of?
I need a site or paragraph on the internet that shows what jello is made of (cow and pig bone remains) that is FDA approved! PLEASE HELP!
Answers:
I found a website that tells what Jello (gelatin) is made of, linked below.
I couldn't find a website that is FDA approved. Mainly because the FDA is not in the business of approving websites.
I found some pages on fda.gov that relate to how gelatin must be manufactured to FDA standards, and have linked one below.

Sorry Gelatin is what makes Jello and the only known source is from animal bones.
Well, I'm not sure you'll find an "FDA approved site" that explains what jello is made of, but you can look here:
http://www.howstuffworks.com/question557...
From the site:
"The gelatin you eat in Jell-O comes from the collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues. To make gelatin, manufacturers grind up these various parts and pre-treat them with either a strong acid or a strong base to break down cellular structures and release proteins like collagen. After pre-treatment, the resulting mixture is boiled. During this process, the large collagen protein ends up being partially broken down, and the resulting product is called gelatin. The gelatin is easily extracted because it forms a layer on the surface of the boiling mixture."
Not too appetizing when you break it down, huh? There are vegan alternatives for gelatin, which include agar-agar, guar gum, carrageenan, xanthan gum and others. I think agar-agar is really the only one that has the same overall texture as gelatin, though.
Does the FDA approve websites now? Are you sure you understand your assignment? Why not just list the ingredients right off the box and then do some research on what the ingredients are made of. . .
