Question:

Slitting the throat of a lamb halfway through ,still bleating is Hallal?

No matter how much you pray it must be " Cruelty to an animal "

Answers:
Ban Halal in UK

people do a lot in the name of Religion. right- or wrong? god is the judge.

Sad. So very sad. Everyone has a custom and this certainly is different than mine. Makes me hurt.

shut up! that is going against a religion ---i know you have your views, but keep them to yourself.... it is not cruelty in Islam----- because you pray before it as you said in the question, that is what Muslims believe, so leave it at that.

Someone, somewhere needs to tell these people that this terrifies the animal. Do they understand what humane killing is? Their methods are as basic as their understanding of human rights.

Get a life people you obviously haven't been to a slaughter house... stunning an animal only makes the people think that it is humane.. the animal still feels their throat being cut ( yes that's how its done in UK slaughter houses too). and the animal also bleats and cries out.. If Muslims pray for their animals individually then that's one up for them.

Meat in the west is just business!!! mass slaughter to keep the supermarket shelves stocked with microwave meals for overweight and lazy people.

There must be some other way to make the meat hallal. I fool .

This process is just so disturbing. I am very uncomfortable with people who do things in the name of God, that are insanely cruel. If God didn't want that animal to live, he wouldn't have made it. If God wanted man to eat that animal, he would have given man massive teeth and claws.

There is a clip on the net of a beautiful bull being killed this way. The poor creature is clearly in unbearable agony, and fights to the end. Slipping and sliding, staggering, crying out as they carve through its throat.

How ANYONE can commit such an atrocity is beyond me. What goes around comes around. I don't believe in hell, but seeing a group of 'religious' people putting beautiful living creatures through such torture makes me want a hell waiting for them to burn in.

I think slitting an animals throat is cruel, but it also goes on in slaughter houses. Just because the animal is stunned doesnt mean it feels not pain, it just makes it easier for the person to do the throat slicing as the animal does not wriggle about. Before you go having ago at just the muslims way take a look at this video and you will see that its the western culture who are just as much to blame for cruelty. Once your on the website click on 'meet your meat' and you will see what I mean. http://www.peta.org.uk/

Yes, part of the dietary restrictions of halal state that animals must be killed by Dhabi?a, part of which is slitting the animal's throat. And you know we will all agree it is a cruel thing to do, as you are in the vegetarian section after all. But we don't need to start a flamewar and point fingers at Muslims, please. Halal just means it is permitted for Muslims, and yes, it is sad that MANY people of varying religious or non-religious beliefs believe it is fine to kill animals, esp. in a prolonged way (which, is not only true for halal but also kosher and some conventional slaughterhouses, and sometimes hunting, etc.). But you do not *have* to kill animals at all to keep halal...

The easiest way to keep a halal diet in non-Islamic countries is to not eat meat at all - then it is automatically halal (assuming you don't consume alcohol, which is easy to avoid as well.) Many of my Muslim friends eat only vegetarian for this reason. Vegetarian is Halal, too!

i heard they cut the animals head off straight through and all the bad blood comes out apparently???

I personally agree that its still cruelty to an animal, though this may be subject to debate depending on how you look at it. Some people may argue that they're killing the lamb "in God's name" and therefore may find that justification enough to do so. I thought (I could be wrong) that the Muslims sacrificed whatever animals they wanted for food, though, so I am a bit confused. I have read verses from the Quran (Koran?) as quoted in this book about Islam (its included as a source below). The book mentions encouraging Muslims to show compassion toward animals, and says that they are not allowed to hurt them. Apparently, the Prophet Muhammad, who was a Messenger of God, was asked whether people are rewarded for their compassion towards animals, and his response was that kindness to every sentient being (human or not) is rewarded. (narration: Saheeh Muslim #2244, and Saheeh Al-Bukhari). Interestingly, the next paragraph mentions the possibility of a Muslim taking the life of another being (non-human) for food, and that the method causing the least suffering should be used.
For some reason, Prophet Muhammad said: "When you slaughter an animal, do so in the best way. One should sharpen his knife to reduce the suffering of the animal." (narrated in Saheeh Muslim #1955, Al-Tirmizi, #1409)
I find it interesting that using a knife to kill the animal is actually considered as acceptable for minimizing the suffering done to the animal, whereas I would still considering that as cruelty to the poor animal(s) facing it. I suppose in light of this quote the resulting food from the animal(s) facing the knife would be Halal, though I really don't see how this falls in accordance with the premise that Muslims are not allowed to hurt the animals (well, at least, not inhumanely).
If I were that poor animal, and had feelings that I could express verbally to humans, and had to be killed no matter what (obviously not a desirable choice), I'd rather drown/starve/hang/be choked by somebody's hands to my death than be slit by a painful knife. (sorry for the description but I hope you know what I mean)
Speaking of which, I think the Muslim tradition is okay with eating halal meat, or even not eating meat at all (after all verses in the Quran say to be kind to animals!). I would think that all vegetarian food (and vegan for that matter) would be Halal as well. Praying should not eliminate the fact that slitting a lamb's throat is cruel, though I suppose one can be pardoned of whatever sins one has committed in the past.

'tis cruel, no mistake.

Blossom has a funny attitude. So i can do ANYTHING i like if i say its to do with my religion, can i ?

Strange.

Have you ever witnessed a halal slaughter? I have and I have never heard a bleat.
The knife has to be very sharp and it's over in seconds. Better than stringing the animal up and then shooting it with a bolt through the head.

OMG :0
do they do that the evil omgoosh the gay bods that's HORRIBLE awwwww poor little lambs thanks for letting us know though I'm in a band and we wanna help stop animal cruelty that's good info
