What vitamin supplements should vegans take?!

Question:

What vitamin supplements should vegans take?

are there any specific vitamins or minerals that a vegan should focus on taking?

Answers:
I only take B12. I eat tons of veggies, fruit and fortified soy milk, and I dont need more supplements. I prefer real food over pills.

I've been vegan for 5 years and the only supplements I have taken are the occasional Emergen-C vitamin powder, and nutritional yeast. I also use fortified soy milk. I think a healthy diet can provide all the nutrients you need. That being said, not everyone has a healthy diet, and if they're not careful, vegans can start to run low in B vitamins, and possibly calcium, and may need to supplement. Fortified foods like soy milks and cereals, nutritional yeast and Marmite/Vegemite are good for that, but you can also try a vegan B-vitamin tablet.

Vegan multivitamin with iron
Calcium supplements

That's all you really need if you are eating enough legumes and fresh fruits and veggies.

I take a multivitamin but am not enlightened enough on the subject to be able to give very informed advice on all vitamins. The one that I will push is calcium, mostly due to the fact that a friend of mine who was a strict vegan for years fractured a bone in her back because she wasn't taking in enough calcium.
