Are you a vegetarian?!
Are you a vegetarian?
I'm a vegetarian, and I was wondering how many of you vegetarians get asked the same questions all the time like me...
Are you a vegetarian?
Why?
Do people always ask you why?
Do some people not respect or not understand why you're a vegetarian?
Are some of these people your friends?
Answers:
I am a strict vegetarian.
I've been like that since i was born, because of my religion. But I don't like telling people that because it usually leads to them thinking that I am obliged to be vegetarian and that I don't have a choice...though even if it weren't my religion, I would still be one.
People used to give me a lot of crap about, first criticizing me of what I didn't do (eat meat), and then criticize me of what I DID do (only eat dairy products, and exclude eggs from my diet). The taunting had subsided when I came into high school...so I thought. Just last week, people were giving me a hard time about not eating eggs, saying that it was stupid and illogical.
I have had only one friend that has not supported by vegetarianism. She shoved meat in my face and told me to "eat it, it's good!" We are (obviously) not friends anymore.
ALL of my friends respect my being a vegetarian.
I have learned to not care what people think! And so should everyone else. I have some friends that are considering becoming vegetarian, but are afraid of what people think! They shouldn't!
No, I'm not.
1. yes. im also vegan
2. because i am against specieism(sp?) and animal cruelty. plus, we dont need to kill an animal to survive.
3. yes often
4. yes all the time. including my sister. its a bummer because you'd hope your family would be behind you with all that you do
5. yes. i need better friends, eh?
Yes.
My friends are actually suprisingly good about it and support me, something I didn't expect, Lol!
Im vegetarian because I don't believe humans are more important than animals...we wouldnt want to be eaten!
I do get asked why a lot, but really, why not?:D
1) I'm vegan.
2) I love animals, I don't believe meat/dairy is healthy for the body. I also believe that man, not being a natural hunter with sharp enough teeth, claws, digestive system capable of ingesting feathers, bones, no natural thirst of blood or gore
etc, should be eating something so unnatural to him/her.
3) People don't really ask why anymore. Most people these days are just interested, ask what I use instead of milk, ask for recipe ideas. I'm yet to eat a meat-eater in person who can justify what they eat without resorting to "I know it's bad, but it'd be inconvenient to go vegetarian as I love
4) These days, nearly everyone is respectful.
5) Since most of my friends are vegetarian or practically vegetarian (I know that's not quite good enough, but a nice start), we don't really discuss it.
There's only one person who tends to eat meat in front of me, and he's going through a really bad time right now, so I'm not going to spend each day lecturing him on his (bad) diet. He knows it's wrong, he just has a lot on his mind, so one day soon, hopefully, he'll make the right choice for his body.
None of my friends are vegetarians but all of them respect my choices and are very well aware and supportive of it.
I get asked this ALL the time. (Though, I am a vegan.) It sucks to answer the questions if the people are just ignorant while asking, but if they are just interested in knowing why, I answer.
1) Yep, I'm working on becoming a vegan too.
2) It was the "Meet your meat" video that got me to actually give up meat. But I always knew that it was unhealthy for you ... not just because it's fattening, but because of all the unnatural things the animals get pumped into them to make them fatter.
3) Sometimes they ask why, but some people don't care. Which is fine.
4) Some people were quite taken aback at first and had to get used to the idea of me being vegetarian. I still don't think they understand, but they're nicer about it now.
5) All of them are my friends.
I am vegan and yes I do get asked all the time, especially at work, but I don't mind it gives me a chance to educate them. They always want to know what I am having for lunch and what am I going to cook for my tea. It makes their meals sound really boring most of the time. Some people have tried to poke fun out of me but I never rise to the bait, I just tell them each to their own. I don't criticise what lifestyle they have so I don't expect them to criticise mine.
1)I am a vegetarian
2)I am against animal cruelty, and know that vegetarianism is better for my health(the short answer)
3)People sometimes ask why, for the most part they are just curious. They don't think they could do it and sometimes cannot understand how anyine could.
4)All the people I have met have respected my choice, others make jokes and are rude about it.
5)My friends are tolerant of my decision for the most part, the only rude thing they ever really say is "are you still on that vegetarian kick?" Otherwise we don't really discuss it as it doesn't really ever come up.
1. Yes
2. I don't believe in killing animals just for our taste buds, meat is disgusting
3. Yes!!
4. Yes people tell me all the time that it's "part of the food chain" One person told me that all vegetarians are "retards"
5. Yes, but most respect my decision.
yes, i am a vegetarian because i believe it is cruel to raise animals in horrible conditions and then kill and eat them.
people usually do ask me why, not 100% of the time, but it's very common for them to do so. most people respect it, but i have gotten some who seem to think it's funny to do things like threaten to put meat in my food (not seriously, but even as a joke it's annoying and disrespectful). this person was my friend, but (mostly for other reasons) i don't consider her a friend anymore.
I've been a vegetarian for over three months now. And people do ask me why? But I explain that I feel a lot better and it was probably the best thing that I did myself. I'm the type of guy that is well respected by the people around me and my explanation even though short, is suffient enough.
