Who thinks it is better to be vegetarian than omnivore?!

Question:

Who thinks it is better to be vegetarian than omnivore?

I am so please don't say i should eat meat!

Answers:
I have to say this becuase no one else is. I personally cannot stand questions like this. It perpetuates the notion that vegetarians and omnivores should be in this battle against one another and one diet/life style HAS to be better.

We are each entitled to eat as we please and not be judge for it. I think the ironic thing between the whole omnivore/vegetarian debate is that for the majority of people we are all just looking to be respected for what we choose and not told that we are sickly, lacking nutrition, not eating correctly, etc., weather we eat vegetarian or meat in our diets. The majority are just looking for a little respect and tolerance for the personal choices we make.

As a vegetarian I do not appreciate being told I am not eating correctly, when I know I am. I in turn do not preach to omnivores that choose to eat as they please. I offer opinions when asked and defend my life style when attacked.

Well GOD started it all...
YOU just lost your way.
I don't care
you can't get out of here alive anyway.

I do eat meat and dairy, but I believe that it's a personal choice and should be left to the individual to decide.

They are both good ways...

I think it's personal preference. As long as you're getting your nutrients that you need, either or should be OK.

Meat is necessary for proper nutrition.

I think it's a better way ethically as you're not contributing to as much animal death and suffering with your wallet, but I don't think you are necessarily a better person just based on one facet of your way of life. I'm not sure which you were asking.

Truthfully, I believe we are meant to eat meat in very, very small moderations (maybe once a week if that). However, as I cannot stand the taste of meat and hate the way they are treated in slaughterhouses, I think I am doing better now than when I ate meat substances 3 times a day. But I've spoken to prior vegs that physically felt better when they added a meat dish here and there, so each body is different

lol silly your asking in the v&v section, our answers will be biased. i vote for veg*n all the way! :)

Everything in too much quantities is bad for you. There is nothing wrong with eating meat. It is how you porportion it and how it is prepaired. If you had some baked or grilled lean meat along with some nice greans and maybe a little fruit salid for dessert is healthy and balanced. Don't forget maybe a little brown rice for your grains. I would have to say right down the middle and have a variety. Leaning too much one way and you are missing calcium and protein. Leaning too much the other way is a good way to miss out on important fiber and other important vitamins that leafy foods can provide. One of the biggest factors is portions!

I think it is better to be a vegitarian.I am i mean you don't hurt poor defenceless animals:.)

I don't think someone should eat zero of anything, then label themselves as different from others. Cutting back is another thing, though... I cut way back on meat and that is commendable, because it is healthier and also will not support the corrupt system, but I wont label myself. I love a good shrimp salad and a mutton stew if need be, and I also won't poo poo the Thanksgiving turkey..

Vegetarian of course.

hey dustedshadow,
PLEASE SHOW A LITTLE RESPECT.
if you feel the need to be rude, please go elsewhere where it might be appreciated. i speak for myself, but i'm sure that none of the vegetarians and vegans in this section appreciate being called a "nit-wit".
TO EACH HIS OWN.

in response to the asker, i believe it is better to be a vegetarian than an omnivore.

best wishes.

It's people like dustedshadow that give omnivores a bad name in this forum. I don't understand people like that. I sure as heck would not care to read the book he is supposedly writing, as is mentioned in his profile ... I bet he's prejudiced in more ways than one if you get what I'm saying.

I personally think, health wise, it's better to be a vegetarian, but whatever, ya know? I don't harp on anyone, unless they harp on me.

I don't think there is any good reason to eat meat. I think that many people are misinformed and don't know any better. Others are just so tied to their taste buds and the whole dominance of it all that they can't see how destructive their lifestyle really is.

I have never been presented with any good reason for eating meat.

edit: that's not to say that I harrass anyone for it. I let them be, but I just can't understand it on a personal level.
