Is killing animals cruel?!
Is killing animals cruel?
I'm a vegetarian and I know they need to kill the animals for meat but I dont believe in that. But it is the food chain. But the harsh living conditions. That is soooooo cruel. The animals being killed for leather, wool, and all clothing items are TORTURED!!! They are skinned alive sometimes. How can this stop. And they say that circuses are cruel to animals too. When will all of this stop. I feel like crying everyday! And what types of fabric should I buy that are NOT made from animals?
Answers:
yes very its like killing a human for another
Go to peta.com...it's a real great place to speak out against all of this horrifying stuff.
very cruel.
you can buy cotton, just don't buy any leather.
You need to examine resources for information outside of PETA's website. They have issues themselves related to the killing of dogs and cats in Virgina that they were supposed to find homes for and insted took into a van, euthenized and then dumped in a dumpster behind a suburban grocery store. They have an agenda, and it mostly relates to raising money. Educate yourself by perhaps visiting a farm. I have never heard of any animals being skinned alive, and with media attention and the wide consumer watchdog network out there, farms cannot afford the negative publicity. i am not saying cruelty doesnt happen, however, if you want something to worry about, why dont you worry about the thousands of children in this country that are abused and languishing in the foster care system, or detention facilities because there are no homes for them? They dont have anymore of a voice than animals do, and instead of ending up on your table, they often end up walking on the street next to you. I love animals, I have spent my life caring for them, and I always adopt my pets from shelters, but to me, humans come first, and always should. PETA should not be your only source of information, they have too much at stake finacially to be reliable.
Well it is cruel and im glad you understand why they have to kill though...But i agree they should be free until that day comes..i gtg my rides here im going to coffee and a spring roll lol wiht my friends!
In some cases, like when you kill snake to make boots out of it and poaching yes, but killing an animal so you can feed your family or killing an animal is probably the only reason that I think would be justified. I am not a vegitarian, but I do try to avoid eating meat because of dietary reasons. As for the material that are not made of animals, I'd would try cotton because is is very comfortable and durable.
There are a number of sights that you can go to
to find non- animal apparel. Vegan Essentials,
Pangea, Downbound.com. You can find non-
animal skin shoes at Payless, Walmart, discount
outlets etc. Just look for a label that says-"all
man-made material".
When will it all stop? That will depend on future
generations. The best bet is educating the public.
Many in the general public are converting to
vegetarianism and passing the beliefs down to
their children. More and more children growing
up to be veg*ans and animal rights advocates
means more impact on food, clothing industries,
less slaughter and suffering.
Hang in there.
I forgot to mention that there are several types of
clothing made from plant based fabrics or polymers
that you can buy: organic cotton, nylon, rayon,
pleather= synthetic leather, corduroy, hemp.
These are just a few of the options available.
It is cruel for sure!! Unfortunately we can not avoid it. A lot of things we wear are from animals. The shoe you wear is one of them. Majority of the people eat meats; only a few percentage are vegetarian. The only thing I could do is not to kill them. As what Paul McCartney had said one time, "If the slaughterhouse has a glass wall, we would all become vegetarian."
yes its cruel
Animals taste DELICIOUS!
>>>..what types of fabric should I buy that are NOT made from animals?>>> Cotton is ok for vegetarians and vegans and also easy to find. There are other fabrics too; if it's not leather, fur, wool or silk, it's usually ok. Though some clothes can have only parts of leather. Like if you buy jeans, some have a leather patch, or a leather belt. Some bags can have small leather details. Many shoes are made of leather. But avoiding that is very easy. Most clothes, bags and such is labeled. You can always ask in a store if you're not sure. There are also vegan online shops where you can buy 100% safe stuff.
hi im not a vegetarian im a chef and cook in a local hospital. im also a PETA member. i know what your saying and i feel like that too sometimes. animals have feelings too and are part of our being. animals do get treated badly and yes they are tortured..thats humans for you. the only thing you can do is do your part for the animals..the best you can...volunteer. they are part of the food chain like everything else including plants..hence survival of the fittest. im sure if there was something bigger than us theyd eat us for sure. and the fabric ..look online for some great hemp clothes...there are always new materials coming out for people that are allergic and people like us ..dont want to harm the inncocent creatures of the world...good luck
killing animals is so cruel! but the reason they do it is because without meat people are'nt as healthy. you need meat to be strong but that is a different story. if you kill a animal for it's fur or for it's horns that is sooooo creul! it is not fair that animals have to die because of comfort and what bothers me the most is when people have animal heads in there living room and they are so proud i would be proud if i could kill the people who do that
Cotton, polyester, nylon and lycra are all completely vegan.
A sheep doesn't have to be killed for the wool, it is just like getting a haircut. I know - I am a vegetarian and I work for a city farm, which has sheep that are anything but tortured . . . unless you count spacious accomodation, good food, and caring owners as torture.
Humans invented the diagram of the "food chain" and use it as an excuse to destroy the lives of other living things. Your best bet to make a difference is to not support the things that are responsible for pain and suffering by boycotting them and educating others. Don't be militant about it though, because people will tune you out and write you off as a pyscho or something. For example, my friend wanted to take her child to a circus. I told her how they treat the animals and how the money she pays to see these animals pays for their ill treatment. Offer other activities to do such as Cirque de Sol (only people ) or going to a wildlife sanctuary or rescue. When it comes to avoiding animal products, its easy. There are leather alternatives that are made from recycled materials. Just check the label. Cotton is wonderful and so is pleather, canvas (shoes), hemp, you name it. Pangea sells all sorts of vegan alternatives. Go to peta.com and they have a list of animal/environmental friendly shops you can visit. If you want to get more active, write letters to your local politician, offer alternatives to the press. For example, if there's something going on in town that is harmful to animals, write the local news community and tell them that it is their responsibility to provide full coverage (even the down side) of things going on and that it would be in their viewer's best interest to have an alternative activity to choose from. Educating the public is key, but people seem to be lazy, so you're going to have to do most of the work to spark thier interest. It can be done though!
it's very cruel. Horrible, actually. They don't NEED to kill them for meat. There are plenty of other things to eat. WANT to kill them for meat is more accurate. Animals did nothing to us and people that are selfish kill them for something as unimportant as taste, especially when there are alternatives that taste really good.
I doubt this will stop. A lot of people see animals as just things, so it's okay to torture them and prod them and take their meat.
Cotton is the most common choice for apparel to not kill animals for their fur or skin.
Even if the animals WEREN'T tortured, they're still dying for people, even when we give them nothing back...make things worse for them. It's unethical and terrible and everything bad.
eat dirt and run around naked than you freak.
the more people that dont do it the more money they loss. the only reason they do the things they do is because its cheaper and faster. they need to be shown that cheaper isnt always better. the more people who boycott it the more they are going to see that we dont like they way they are running things.
next time you buy shoes look at the lable for "ALL man made" buy a pleather jacket. its real easy to shop cruelty free and a lot of times its cheaper to.
who is they first of all (first sentence)?
I admire you for being a vegetarian. Ideadlly, I'd like to be too. I agree that killing an animal for the purposes of turning it into a piece of clothing is unneccessary- killing minks to make furs especially is the most barbaric act, I believe.
People need to be more caring as you are and vote against killing animals for clothing by not buying these things.
Things to avoid: leather, fur,- just look at the label and it will say
Yes it's very cruel to kill animals
