Are we really designed to be herbivores?!

Question:

Are we really designed to be herbivores?

I just need some help.. please give me sites saying that we were designed to eat plants only.. thnx!!

Answers:
In zoology, a herbivore is an animal that is adapted to eat primarily plant matter (rather than meat). Although such animals are sometimes referred to as being vegetarian, this term is more properly reserved for humans who choose not to eat meat as opposed to animals that are unable to make such choices.

huh? We're omnivores

nah! id say saprotrophes...

That'd be a hard one considering that our teeth are specifically designed for meat eating and that our bodies rely upon iron, which is absent in most plants. Spinach is the only exception I can think of, but that's also hard point to argue considering it doesn't grow everywhere in the wild. The only way you can absorb iron is with vitamin c, which is usually found in fruit... but fruit isn't a plant.. its a product of a plant.

Really I don't think there's any scientific evidence that modern day humans should only eat plants. Sure we could, but we'd die horribly and fast too.

Man, you do need help!

I cant give you sites, but can give you some basic reasoning that would indicate that we are meant to be herbivores. If humans were "designed" to eat meat, we would be equiped with claws and teeth that would make it possible for us to hunt, capture, slaughter, and consume animals without the use of tools. We have two tiny incisor teeth, and the rest of human teeth are flat like other vegetarian creatures. We have a shorter digestive systems that do not process meat as well as carnivores. What we DO have, is an imposable thumb, perfectly designed for picking fruits and vegetables, and bodies that are well equiped for gardening. Ask yourself this: If you had to hunt, capture, kill, slaughter, gut, eat and dispose responsibly of the remaining animal parts, could or would you?
