Hey M... how the **** does eating a piece of steak contribute to global warming, granted that it's even a viable problem itself?

I eat meat, my body uses the protein and other yummy nutritional stuff and I poop out the waste. Just like eating vegetables. But eating a slab of steak doesn't put corn in your crap.

i can't make you become anything. you have to want to be a herbivore or a carnivore. more power to you!

Sure I can. Eating meat is unnecessary and it can be argued that all creatures were put on this earth as equals, so why should we be eating other creatures? You can survive on just vegetarian foods, it's not like you'd suffer.

There are numerous reasons to give up meat - from health to compassion and global warming.

But if your mind is already made up, we can try to convince you all we like - with no success.

ADDITIONAL:
An average "burger man" (that is, not the outsize variety) emits the equivalent of 1.5 tonnes more CO2 every year than the standard vegan.
Meat farms are MAJOR contributor to the global warming due to

1.) large areas of rainforest being cut down in order to grow feed for the animals (if humans only ate veggies we would need much less fields! The basic rule of thumb is that it takes 2kg of feed to produce every kilogram of chicken, 4kg for pork, and at least 7kg for beef.)

2.) Animal farms are big "producers" of methane which is several times worse for the environment than C02.
In the US, livestock (including manure) accounts for about 30% of anthropogenic methane emissions, that's the same amount as from all fossil fuels (gas, oil, coal) combined.

3.) Meat needs lots of processing, transporting, refrigerating etc which contributes to global warming

okay spend a day @ the slaughter house when they slaughter the animals with the hammers, electric probes, guns. Not when the butcher is preparing the meat.

Walk a day with a USDA Inspector and see how much they really check of that meat and GIVE the Stamp of Approval. Oooops they missed that one with the big slap of cancer, pussie blood clots, the fecal matter not cleaned up, the urine bladders busted.

Keep on eating meat if you dont mind using your body as a graveyard for decaying animal flesh. Meat is full of stuff besides protein. It contains cholesterol, purines, urine, feces, pus, blood, parasites, bacteria, growth hormones, antibiotics, steroids, and whatever diseases the animal had. Just pour on some steak sauce and have at it-but dont delude yourself into thinking these things are not in meat. Meat is injected with antimicrobials containing bleach and peroxide to make it "safe" for human consumption. Why be so selfish to require a living, breathing animal to die just to stuff your face? Mother nature provides many delicious non meat foods that have all of the nutrition and vitamins a human needs to survive. Would you still eat meat if you had to hunt, slaughter, gut, and butcher it yourself? Would you eat a dog, cat, or parrot? Then why a cow, pig, or chicken?

No I can't. Focus on the bigger picture. What does it take to raise that peace of meat for you? How much meat do you consume in a year? If you don't care about the animal cruelty aspect of it, that's your choice. If you don't mind heart disease and cancer that is linked to meat intake along with the hormones you are consuming, why should we convince you of anything? It's a free country, if you don't have similar morals and values like we do, I am not about to "convince" you of anything. Hope you enjoy the repercussions of your lifestyle.

At this moment I too am a carnivore and I am contemplating becoming a vegetarian. The only difference between me and you is you want someone to convince you with a good answer why you should do it ? Me I don't need anyone else to tell me what I should choose and why it would be right or wrong. In all honesty lately food just doesn't taste good anymore especially meat and it is kinda confusing too me I love a good steak but lately they just don't taste right whether it's me or just how the cow was raised I don't know. But as an individual with my own mind and my own opinions I am open to all options and right now vegetarian just sounds like a good choice for me and my family. I am a mother of 4 and a wife my family has had many discussions on this topic and in no way would I force any of my children to not eat meat I just want them to have an open mind and that is my answer to you as well Have an open mind to vegetarian meals try a few and make up your own mind. Like me you are your own person and only someone who is scared or not well educated would ask for someone else to make up there mind for them and don't get me wrong I am not trying to be mean in anyway and in no way am I calling you stupid I don't know you and I have no right to call you anything this is just my opinion but you asked for my opinion so I am giving it. You don't need someone to convince you to give up meat it has to be your own choice and if you have an open mind like I do you would want to go out and try something vegetarian just to give it a chance who knows you might like it and just because you like it doesn't mean you have to give up meat to enjoy it. Who knows maybe I can too and you might like it as well? Don't give up meat if it's not what you want but do have an open mind and do try a few vegetarian dishes. I would how ever ask that you first go to a descent restaurant where the chef knows what hes doing and can properly prepare a vegetarian meal before you make a final decision trust me on this not everyone even if they are a vegetarian can properly cook vegetarian.

Vegetarians have been shown to have more endurance than their meat eating counterparts.At Yale, Professor Irving Fisher designed a series of tests to compare the stamina and strength of meat-eaters against that of vegetarians. He selected men from three groups: meat-eating athletes, vegetarian athletes, and vegetarian sedentary subjects. Fisher reported the results of his study in the Yale Medical Journal. His findings do not seem to lend a great deal of credibility to the popular prejudices that hold meat to be a builder of strength.

Overall, the average score of the vegetarians was over double the average score of the meat-eaters, even though half of the vegetarians were sedentary people, while all of the meat-eaters tested were athletes.
A comparable study was done by Dr. J. Ioteyko of the Academie de Medicine of Paris. Dr. Ioteyko compared the endurance of vegetarians and meat-eaters from all walks of life in a variety of tests. The vegetarians averaged two to three times more stamina than the meat-eaters. Even more remarkably, they took only one-fifth the time to recover from exhaustion compared to their meat-eating rivals.
Wherever and whenever tests of this nature have been done, the results have been similar. Doctors in Belgium systematically compared the number of times vegetarians and meat-eaters could squeeze a grip-meter. The vegetarians won handily with an average of 69, whilst the meat-eaters averaged only 38. As in all other studies which have measured muscle recovery time, here, too the vegetarians bounced back from fatigue far more rapidly than did the meat-eaters.
