How do you eat flaxseed? (vegan)?!

Question:

How do you eat flaxseed? (vegan)?

They are un-hulled. I put them in the mini cuisinart and they did not grind. I put them in the cheapo coffee grinder and they also did not grind. WTF. Can I just eat them with the hull?

Answers:
Ooooh they so tiny, I tried that and got most of them caught between my teeth more than what I chewed and swallowed the rest. Not chewing them for digestion, they probably just passed through my system.
I've mostly used them(flour from the health store) in cooking and in my smoothies. I also take the capsules with my other supplements.

Try in a smoothie or on top of your favorite cereal or even salad.

you can try getting the one that is already grind up. I eat it with my vegan ice cream. yummy

I am a big flax fan and I put them in my oatmeal in the morning and I make smoothies and put them in there too. Now with unhulled they are not going to be digested fully and you will not get all the benefits from them, but you have them already so I would do the oatmeal trick, or mix it in with granola. I use flax oil everyday and I just put a tablespoon in with a cup of blueberries and 1 cup soy milk and some rice protein powder...the oil gets fully absorbed and you get tons of benefits from it!

I also really like to take all natural peanut butter, flax seeds, and carob powder and make them in to little balls and freeze them...soooo GOOD!!

Good luck with it!!!

I grind them with a coffeemaker without any problem. They also have spice grinders. You can eat them whole and get fiber, but you'll miss out on the other nutrients. Ground up you can eat them in tons of stuff so I'd figure out a way to grind them. Maybe your coffee grinder is bad? You can usually also buy it pre-ground but it won't last as long.
