Meatless gluten steak/patties recipe help?!

Question:

Meatless gluten steak/patties recipe help?

Hey...I need some help piecing this recipe together. My great grandmother used to make me gluten steaks all the time, and I got some vital gluten at the grocery store.

I remember that she mixed it with water and then kneaded it forever. I don't know what else she added, if it was just gluten, or gluten and something else like flour or something. Then she formed little patties out of the mixture and fried them in a pan until both sides were golden brown.

Then she put them in a pan, covered them with cream of mushroom soup, and baked them for awhile. They were SO GOOD! But I don't remember every little part of the recipe.

Can someone help me put this together so I can make it?

I can give you a recipe that is fool proof, & will taste as good as your grandmothers gluten steaks, with a minimum of fuss and they work EVERY time

Ingredients

750ml of Vegetable juice
1 40g packet of mushroom soup
1 tspn garlic
1 dessert spn soysauce
1 tbspn promite (or marmite/vegemite)
handful of mixed herbs
4 cups water
1 cup Gluten Flour

Method

Into a LARGE stock pot place the750ml of Vegetable juice1 packet of mushroom soup, garlic soysauce,
promite (or marmite/vegemite)the mixed herbs & 4 cups water. stir well and turn on

Into a small bowl place 1 cup of gluten flour and add 1 cup of the liquid from the stock pot, mix until flour & liquid is combined, roll into a long sausage shape & cut into about 12 pieces, flatten and spread evenly around in the stock pot mix. (depending on how old the flour is, sometimes you need to add a bit more liquid & best to add a tablespoon at a time or less the gluten/ liquid mix should feel slighty moist/spongey when ready to divide & less time handleing is better)

Put the lid on bring to the boil for 45 mins. turn off and allow to cool for an hour (the longer the better the end results)

Take all the cooked gluten out of the stock mix breadcrumb or flour the gluten steaks & fry in some oil in a frying pan. drain the oil of & eat (hot or cold these are really tasty!)

If you want you can take some of the stock liquid & turn it into gravy and place your gluten steaks in it to give a nice twist to an old favourite (or just add as a gravy over the top on the dinner plate)

This is just what I am in the process of making for dinner tonight (hubby & children LOVE them & my hubby is very fond of his animal products, but says as long as vegetarian Tastes great than he'll eat it) and have been making these for over 10 years, & never once had fail.
Hope this is of help

I use two parts vital wheat gluten to one part whole wheat flour. For liquid to mix I use water and part soy sauce for flavor. You don't need to rinse or anything (if you make wheat gluten from scratch it's like 12 cups of whole wheat flour and then you knead the ball of dough under water to wash out the starch...lots of changing the water and kneading). I like to fry my gluten globs until golden and then pour water over them and simmer them for 1/2 hour until cooked. When cooked, they are suitable for coating with BBQ sauce and grilling or coating with mushroom soup as you suggested. I also make fake beef stew with mine.
