White Sea Salt?!

Question:

White Sea Salt?

I'm used to using a greyish or pink colored Korean sea salt. Today I found a bag of Korean fine white sea salt. The oriental lady called it "table sea salt". I've never tried it before. Does it have as many minerals as the other colors of sea salt. There was also more per penny than with the others. I know I get what I pay for ~ but, I also know that society doesn't know what to do with the "real" goods.

Answers:
it has less minerals then the coloured sea salt the minerals are part of what gives it the colour and the taste verys on where in the world it comes from

I agree with rick. Yeah, I avoid such salt. It's little different than regular table salt. The whole reason the term "table salt" exists is because 'table salt" is not considered salt at all. Salt is something that contains all sorts of minerals, but table salt has been stripped all the way down to one ingredient.

In all actuality, all salt is "Sea Salt". Salt that is taken from underneath the earth are residue from prehistoric seas that existed many years ago. People who use sea salt think there are advantages in using it. True sodium chloride is pure white. Any off colors that exist are due to impurities. These impurities are other salts that exist in nature along with the sodium chloride. People who think these other salts are of any nutritional advantages over regular white salts are mistaken. Minerals that are helpful to health are better administered in other forms. From a cooking standpoint, a lot of people prefer salt with impurities due to the slightly difference in taste that they produce in the food. Additionally, there are salts on the market that are labeled as Hawaiin salt due to a reddish color of the salt. These salts are actually produced by buying the pure salt we are all common with and blending with crushed lava rock and sold as such.
