Why are some meat-eaters so ignorant?!
Why are some meat-eaters so ignorant?
Seriously, there are some petty people out there! I eat meat (both poultry and red), but I respect those who choose to be vegetarian and vegan for whatever reason. I never question them on their choices because it's their life, not mine, and I respect them for that. So why is it that some meat-eaters have to display their total lack of respect and ignorance for non meat-eaters? Seriously, some meat-eaters just make me sick. I'd like to tell them to just grow up and shut up. So tell me, meat-eaters, why are some of you like ignorant ****, making not only yourself, but the rest of us look bad? Whatever happened to respect?

OK, for the dumb**** that can't read, I said I DO eat meat! I'm saying that meat-eaters have ignorant minds, and I'm wondering why. I suppose you guys just answered my question......

Chris and Karl, please read my question before you answer.. I said I AM a meat-eater! You two just proved that some meat-eaters are not only ignorant in vegetarianism, but in life also. Thank you for proving my point. I'm surprised natural selection hasn't pegged you off yet!

Thank you Chris, I'm glad you finally see that.

How exactly am I being ignorant? If anything, the majority of you are proving my point! Thank you again..

Cgurlrox, don't get your panties in a knot! Chris and Karl proved my point about SOME meat eaters! I've noticed that on the vegan and vegetarian boards that SOME meat-eaters go on there just to troll. Am I putting ALL meat-eaters into the same catagory? Definitely not! I'm wanting to know why SOME of them are closed minded and ignorant to someone's choice to NOT eat meat. Perhaps you should read my question more thoroughly.

I totally see where you're coming from. What I really don't get is why meat-eaters come into the V&V section and try to preach to people that want to become vegetarians how it's unhealthy and such. Most of the time they don't have anything to back them up and they lack common sense.
I have no problem with other people's opinions on vegetarianism but when people come on here with no information to prove their point it really annoys me.
There are different kinds of people, Like on a spectrum, no use complaining about it, that just starts of another chain reaction of criticism....
People are who they are,
I like your attitude & dislike other peoples', but hey, I have my destination, my goals and ideals, they have theirs.
I remember reading along time ago that meat can dull the brain because of all the fear hormones still in it from the slaughtering process, and over time that becomes a part of the meat eaters personaility, so if thats true its not surprising that some of them become dull and scared of difference like the animals they eat.
I'm just happy that in today's world I have the choice of what to eat!!!! its a great world!!!
R-a-n-t.
They're probably sick of militant vegans and vegetarians getting all up in their face about eating meat. Those people are beyond annoying.
Because my so called ignorance gets people like you to get your panties in a bunch.THATS FUN!
As ignorant as non-meat eaters.
You show ignorance in your use of the word "ignorant."
Ignorant
destitute of knowledge or education
Please go to the backyard and graze while i enjoy this steak.
I did not evolve my way to the top of the food chain, just to eat grass and tree bark.
Well I totally agree that people have the right to choose their own path in life, etc. And we shouldn't judge as long as it isn't harming us, etc.
However, as the friend of many vegetarians - gotta say sometimes the boot is on the other foot - and they need to shut up trying to make people feel guilty
- maybe its just the meat-eater back lash after all the abuse they get.
I swear, that is the most ignorant question Ive ever seen!
I agree with PG - it's just the people not the diet choice. And correct me if I'm wrong but in your additional comments you totally called yourself ignorant minded - now everything makes sense.
But there is the flip side of the coin. There are many people who choose to eat a vegetarian or vegan diet who do so as a personal choice, and are willing to have a meal with a meat-eater at a restaruant. Some, however, are more militant in their views and won't be in the same room meat is served and will launch into a lecture if questioned.
So, we're not looking at behavior on one side, but both. And if you look around, you'll see it in many areas. Politics is a clear example, where many people have their views, and can civilly discuss them with people with differing opinions, and you have people who cannot conceive of people not agreeing with them, who cannot engage in any discussion without breaking down into name-calling.
It boils down to people's ability to empathize, in the sense of understanding other people have different points of view and respecting their right to those opinions. If one can't respect that, no matter what side of the debate they are on, they exhibit that behavior you describe.
I think you have this one backward. Most meat eaters are more tolerant of vegetarians than vegetarians are tolerant of meat eaters. I eat meat, but have cut way back in an attempt to get a balanced healthy diet. I recognize that there is some value to a predominantly vegetarian diet, but I also think meat is still an important aspect to that diet.
I don't think you will find too many vegans that tolerate and respect my right to chose this diet.
I really shouldn't respond, and waste my time, but oh well I have a few minutes to kill. I see that a lot of people answering this question cannot read and in some cases can't write too well either.
You can't change other people nor their thinking, all you can control is your own. You should be glad that you are open minded enough to respect other people's choices.
I also read an answer that consisted of the definition of ignorance. Thanks for that educational answer!
I think that when you post a question like that your bound to get some meat eaters and some veggies that get offended. Some people have nothing better to do, than eat a steak while veggies like myself graze outside. Gee spoken by a true intellectual I see.
Thanks for being understanding, and keeping an open mind. The rest will grown up sooner or later, or maybe too late.
First of all, some people are just a**holes. They'll say anything just to make others mad, not just in this category either... go to the religion or gay/lesbian topic, you'll find alot of them there.
The rest of them pretty much just believe the hype spread by the a**holes. They're just gullible.
OK your being extremely rude...your putting us into groups meat eaters and non meat eaters gosh were all humans and
people aren't rude because they eat meat...i don't care if you
do eat meat or you don't its your life but people are rude because that's the type of person they are Ive met allot of rude vegetarians no offense to the vegetarians but i take the rudeness as the person not just vegetarians are rude...now i think that you should re-post this question because YOU are really rude I'm respecting everyone whoever they are were all people! I think you have to realize that your grouping people and THAT'S WRONG. Its like saying blonde's are stupid there not at all there smart like the rest of us...I'm brunette but come on i think you have some growing up to do!
I really don't know. What difference does it make to me what anyone eats. They are the ones that have to live with whatever they do or don't eat.
I'm not even reading other answers before I post this; so sorry if it ends up being redundant but in my opinion; and was a vegitarian but am eating meat at the moment; weighing option and such.
however I feel people (you, myself and some other discluded) need to learn to respect others opinions and needs more; it doesn't hurt them and they have no reason to object. moral values? it's wrong to force that onto others. serious concerns for the other person's heath? not applicable.
so basically yea, I agree with you and am sorry I've no better an answer than you do.
i believe that it is a mistake to use food choice as a was to divide a population. obviously there are people on both sides that are ignorant. i believe that a question that would get answered in a less conflicting way would be something like "why are some people ignorant?" instead of singling people out allow both sides to speak not defensively, but on an equal footing.
Why do so many vegetarians and vegans try to push their ways onto others. Now we can play the point out the obvious game or we can just leave this issue alone sure there will always be meat eaters who are ignorant and vegetarians and vegans who try to force their views onto others but does that mean we should say that all meat eaters are ignorant and that all vegetarians and vegans try to push their views onto others. The answer is no.
