I really don't care how the meds came about, they have kept people from dying for years.Without the testing where would some people(HUMANS) be?D-E-A-D......enough said.Pray yours never need any that were tested ......
testing on animals is so wrong.. its not right :(*****
just like wearing furs isn't right
Absolutely horrible!
I think drug testing should be performed on criminals that are on death row if anythink.
ok they do it on rats first off. and would you rather have them do it on a human or a rat? personally, id say save the human.
=] have a great day
NO, I don't think so, I mean this is for a better cause. I f you weigh the Risk - Benifit Ratio, you are talking about saving the lives of thousands of "Humans". and this would take out the lives of some animals ofcourse, but its nothing compared to the huge "good-for-all" that it brings.
Unfortunately, there are some medications I am on that I can't avoid taking and there are no vegetarian alternatives. The best we can do is to lobby the drug companies to stop animal testing. But it's not always just the companies...the FDA requires animal testing on all new medications. We have to get on the FDA also and get them to stop.
I really hope one day there will be a vegan based pharmaceutical company so we have an alternative.
I think animal testing is wrong. I take medicine after ensuring that there are no animal products in the medicine. I can't guarantee that no animal testing has gone into the product, but I can lobby congress for non-animal testing to be accepted because there are currently very few non-animal testing techniques that are allowed by the FDA. Dying from refusing medicines doesn't prove anyone's point. In fact, it removes you from being active in championing another perspective.
If my son is sick, there is one kind of medicine that will cure him, it has to be tested either on my son or an animal first, sorry animal, good luck and thank you for saving my son.
Not only were they tested on animals, but many medicines and most vitamin supplements are animal derived. The vitamins used to "enrich" products such as rice, flour, pasta, and cereals are animal derived. Wax paper is made from animal derived sources. It is very difficult to avoid dead animals, they are in everything. Even "natural" flavors and colors are from animals. Its shocking and sad how many animals have to die to support the silly "needs" of humans.
just say no to drugs
Unfortunately, it is a sad reality that medications are always tested on animals. I try to avoid medications when at all possible, like I don't take OTC cold and flu medicines or headache meds, etc. However, we can't always avoid medications. We can ask our doctors to prescribe synthetic versions of meds, when available, and tell them why. There are more and more professionals in the medical community who are pushing for more humane and animal-free testing, both for the benefit of animals AND humans. Animals' physiology is vastly different from ours, and many medicines and medical breakthroughs were hampered and delayed for years due to the faulty results of the testing. Then there are the meds that passed animal testing with flying colors (thalidomide comes to mind) that turned out to be poison in the human body. With all the advances today, there are so many ways to test the safety and effectiveness of medicines without the use of live animal experiments. Along the same vein, the use of animals to test cosmetics and other household products is abhorrent and totally unneccessary.... but that's another discussion altogether.
i seriously try to avoid as often as possible. testing medication on animals tests one thing- the effect that comes to that animal. testing something for humans on any animal other than a human is ridiculous. its unneeded suffering as it doesn't help us! why don't they start testing on the murderers and rapists in our prisons instead? save the innocent.
I defiantly think testing on animals is wrong.
I have a lot of health problems; epilepsy, three kinds of lupus, hypoglycemia, asthma, etc.
Before I was 18 I had no choice but to take prescription drugs, the doctors would not release me and they threatened to take me away from my parents otherwise. As a young adult you have very little choice when you enter a hospital, they care nothing for your well-being. They were well aware that I was allergic to all the meds, that I was vegetarian, my religious status, and that I didn’t support testing on animal products. I had been given many meds before with results such as loosing my vision, increased seizures and such, and the doctors gave them to me anyway. I went from having 2-3 seizures a month off of meds to 15 seizures a week on meds. The side affects of medication are alarming. My uncle owns a pharmacy and it is sickening to see what meds do to people, they might take care of the initial problem but it causes two or three new ones.
Once I became 18 (I’m 24 now) I took myself off of all prescription and over-the-counter drugs and I have done so much better. These last 6 years I usually only have 1-2 seizures a month and my lupus is in remission a lot more now then when I was on meds.
Alternative health, like herbs, natural remedies and such are the way I went, they save the lives of animals and have defiantly done better for me as well.
I would never think of putting my life above any living creature and would never go back to animal-tested products or those that contain animals in them.
