How do I survive with vegetarians for 3 weeks?!
How do I survive with vegetarians for 3 weeks?
I am staying with relatives for several weeks in Australia. I love seeing them, but the problem is, they are vegetarian. They aren't against killing animals as I kill them all the time and it doesn't bother them. It's just a life choice for them. It would be impolite of me to slaughter animals and take them home to cook I feel. The last time I was there I was starving all the time and cried myself to sleep over all the meat I was missing. They don't even eat animal products which is why it is so terrible. Should I sneak a duffle bag of beef jerky with me?
Answers:
Yes, sneak in instant noodles with dehydrated prawns, meat, etc. Sneak in beef jerky, chicken and beef pies. Go out hunting in the bush and cook, BBQ and eat the game you kill. Go to Coles and buy ham and salami and eat them before you return to your relative's house. Go to a restuarant and have T-bone steak and lamb chops before you go back to your relative's house. Go to a Chinese restaurant and have Peking Duck! Tell them politely, "I love meat so from time to time I'm bringing meat home to eat but I shall do it out of your sight." Use your creativity!

you definately need snack food! don't deny yourself. just be respectful.
Ever heard of Hunter's Sausage? It is like beef jerky and will last in your pack for as long as you need it.
Nothing wrong with a little hidden jerky.
Have a Great Time!
fill the bottom of ur suitcase with cans of Vienna sausages and potted meat.
Well you said they aren't against killing animals so they shouldn't have a problem with you eating meat? As a vegetarian myself, I have no problems with people having meat in my presence and would feel horrible if my guest was starving!
bring your own food and dont starve yourself!!!!im sure theyll understand
Just bring small size canned food over will do as canned food can last longer, Vegetarian usually don't like people using their pan to cook meat and don't eat in front of them! If you can drive alone in Australia its better, then you can have your lunch outside. I know the Australia mock meat not as nice as US one.
I am a vegetarian myself and am a bit surprised that your relatives expect you to magically take on their lifestyle for 3 weeks. I would really talk to them about it and say that you just couldn't easily adjust to the dietary change last time. Not only that, but it doesn't sound healthy to suddenly go vegan for 3 weeks when you're used to eating meat and whatever you want all the time. The only way to get comfortable when you visit is to talk to them. Maybe they'll let you go grocery shopping and cook something for yourself at their house. It just seems rude for them not to give you any options!
If you are staying with your relatives, them allowing you into their home and you not having to pay or anything like that, I also think it could be slightly disrespectful of you to eat a ton of meat while you are their house guest. You should ask them first. Did you even try their food? Vegetarianism opened more doors for me food-wise than I could have ever imagined.
I think you should eat vegetarian food while your there for some of the meals. I 'm a veg I wouldn't expect my guests to only eat vegetarian if they were a meat-eater. If I had meat eating guests I would be very pleased even if they ate only a few vegetarian meals. Don't stress. Bring your own frying pan or saucepan or other things you would cook your meat in incase they don't want you to cook meat in they cooking pans.
Bring your own food or buy some when you get there.
Before I was a vegetarian I went to stay with my aunt who was a vegetarian but I went out and boughts sausages and other meat. She didn't mind but I also had a couple of her vegetarian meals and tried a vegetarian sausage and she was very pleased. I loved their veggie spaghetti bolognese!
Only 3 weeks? I'm a vegetarian and had to stay with meat eaters
for 2 and half months until I found myself an apartment that's close to affordable. My apartment cost more than I can afford on my regular income but I'm lucky I get a government subsidy to cover some of it but a catch is I have to volunteer somewhere at least 1 day a week..I volunteer a CMHA.. if the SPCA were easier to get to I'd volunteer there instead! Do what I did sneak out to restaurants.
I was lucky there was a Vegetarian restaurant nearby! I was in Armstrong BC having to be with meat eaters. One day a year is enough.. that is Christmas time in December! You would be looking for a meat Restaurant instead of a Vegetarian Place!
don't do such a sneaky thing, just ask them if it is okay to eat meat in their presence. you said they don't mind you killing animals. i am a vegetarian and i have mostly chinese friends, they ask me politly if they can eat meat in my presence and i dont mind at all.
remember , honesty is the best policy.
Seriously, do not under any circumastances try and smuggle food into Australia! The quarantine and import laws are very, very strict and if you are found smuggling, even canned food, you might not be allowed into the country, you could even be arrested and fined!
There are plenty of supermarkets and butcher shops in Australia, and if your relatives don't mind you killing things I'm sure they won't mind you buying dead things to eat at a shop, and then you just need to talk to them about how you can cook your meat.
But please do not try and smuggle anything into the country!
I suspect this is a joke meant to rile up vegetarians, but are you really so selfish that you cant go three lousy weeks without killing an animal to stuff your face? My goodness, there are so many foods out there that dont require a blood sacrafice. Your hosts are kind enough to offer you free room and board, and you would disrespect them by sneaking in beef jerky? If you are that selfish, decline the offer and stay at a hotel, where you can use your body as a graveyard to your hearts content.
how can you be hungry when there is bananas, pineapples, apples, bread, and cashews to stuff yourself with?
Umm people can survive without meat their entire lives, you cant live without them for 3 weeks? Your crazy, you never need it.
