Best tofu for this recipe?!

Question:

Best tofu for this recipe?

On a brunch buffet, I picked up some little cubes that I thought was some sort of smoked cheese. Turned out to be tofu in a sweet glaze. I think I found a recipe for it, fried with a maple syrup glaze, but what's the best tofu to use? The one I had was fairly firm, but still had a really CREAMY texture. I have NO experience with tofu, but I'd like to make this recipe.

Vegans, what do you suggest?

Answers:
Normally, I use Extra Firm tofu for cubing and cooking in sauce... because yours was still really creamy, I would suggest extra-firm silken tofu.
Silken is often used for making dips etc., but I have used it for cooking. I personally prefer the non-silken, but it may be just what you are looking for.

I'm not a vegan but I can answer because I love me some tofu. I would go with either a firm or extra-firm tofu. Enjoy.

You might want to try extra firm organic tofu. I find it to be creamier and have a better texture than ordinary tofu. It only costs a few pennies more and is definitely worth it! Bon appetit.
