I know its been mentioned a thousand times before, but this is by far the best online vegan and vegetarian recipe site out there..

http://vegweb.com/

We have been recently trying to cook more often with tofu and this site has been a great help!!!
I also mentioned this to someone else here.. Tofu Egg salad! Which I have decided to name Egfu Salad, since my man gets really irritated when I call it "egg". Just dice some cold tofu up, get yerself a good vegan mayo (we use vegenaise) and whatever else you would normally enjoy in an "egg" salad.,just keep it around in the fridge and you always have a quick snack or lunch....
Another tip with tofu is to freeze it first, it gives it a nice texture..than marinate it in whatever you wish while its thawing in your fridge...tofu is so versatile you can do whatever you want with it , and cheap enough to experiment! And this is coming from someone who can't cook a darn thing!

Now that it's warm enough where I am to use my outdoor grill, I grill it! I get extra-firm tofu, slice it about an inch thick, rub just a tiny bit of olive oil on it so it doesn't stick to the grill and get it going. Make it burger-style on a bun with fixin's, grill some veggies to go with it, have fun!

Hi

Personally I like it absolutely plain... I am given to not being able to get it home because I dig into the box and finish it off .... it makes getting dinner un-necessary, unless I have a crew waiting ...

Oh, you mean tofu? Oh, well that is something DIFFERENT.

You can make it by doing in oil (plain, por favor) some onion in large pieces (cut the onion in 6, north to south), and do it up a little, put in some garlic & ginger soaked in soy sauce with 2 drops of toasted sesame oil, a splash of rice vinegar or cooking sherry (it is always in the cabinet because no one in his/her right mind would DRINK it), a pinch each of sugar and salt, a tiny spoon of molasses of some sort, slide in the tofu and some blanched snow peas .... and then if you can bear it, some toasted cashew nuts ... but don't believe me ....it is not a good day for me! I had to give up someone I have long cherished and as they say, an unhappy cook ... forgets to turn on the oven, or gives rotten recipes for tufo ... I mean tofu... I mean that SHERRY is terrible ... who put it into my CABINET!!!

I usually chop it up into 1-inch squares, and then fry them up in some oil, and have tofu tacos. Sounds weird, but it's actually kind of good ...

I assume you mean tofu?

If you buy plain tofu then you can use it anyway-it takes on some of the flavour of things it's cooked with. There are lots of vegan cookery sites on the net-visit some.

1. Boil the tofu in plain water for about 4-5 mins. Then drain carefully. Put in a bowl and pour some teriyaki sauce (cold) over the topand add some finly chopped spring onion (the green end part)

2. Add it to some Miso soup. You can also add some seaweed and babycorn to it and it tastes lovely. Also you can make a noodle soup. Add what ever vegetables you want, either a veg or chicken stock cube, any sort of noodle you want. Plenty of water little salt and white pepper and when its nearly ready add the beancurd for4-5 mins

3. Cut in to small pieces fry for a minute and add to a stir fry.

4. If you can get some fried bean curd that is better to add to stirfry also good in soup.

I firstly like to freeze it, as it changes to a nice spongey texture when defrosted. I then cut in to large chunks and marinade it in fresh lemon juice , some mint sauce, salt and pepper. leave for half hour coat in flour and fry. This is what I would eat when others are having fried greek halloumi cheese. Put in pittas with salad.

BOIL THE TOFU?? Have you hears the news? There's been a massive earthquake in China apparently caused be millions of Chinese ancestors gyrating in their graves.
Tofu doesn't have much flavour, so you have to marinade it.
I use light soy sauce, peanut or sunflower oil, grated garlic and ginger salt, pepper and some five spice powder. Cut the tofu into bite sized cubes. Marinade for at least an hour at room temperature or several hours in the fridge. Drain off the marinade and stir fry the tofu. You can add chili flakes and/or a few drops of sesame oil to this.
If you haven't poured the marinade down the sink you can thicken it with cornflour, add some water and make a sauce.
This is not a genuine Chinese recipe, so no complaints please.

with sweet and sour sauce....mmmmm lovely

i like the cauldron marinated tofu or the marigold braised tofu in stir fries

i do veggie wraps with onions, peppers, feta cheese, avocado and tofu on a spinach or jalapeno type wrap. AWESOME. i just fry up the tofu, peppers and onions in some extra virgin olive oil, then add the cheese to the top and let it melt .. then put it in the wrap with some fresh avocado. (actually with the avocado you really don't need cheese).

i also like to fry it up with Krab and/or shrimp ... add some dill seasoning and garlic ...mmmmmmmmm. perfecto!

im no veggie and i dont eat or ever want to eat tofu

but my friend says he likes it deep fried =)
