Will being a vegan at 14 stunt your growth?!
Will being a vegan at 14 stunt your growth?
Answers:
No being vegan will NOT stunt your growth . Your growth pattern is largely determined by genetics and you inherit your genes from your parents . As a general rule if one or both of your parents are short , then chances are you may be short and vice versa . The three outside influences that can affect your growth are malnutrition , chronic illness and an accident. Even at that , the malnutrition has to be severe to affect your growth rate. It is very uncommon and highly unlikely that almost any child in the United States today has severe enough malnutrition to affect their growth (that is a US statistic ) . In addition if you have "short genes" eating extremely healthy ( as the proper vegan diet) will not increase your height. So to sum it up .. your growth is basically predetermined and being a vegan will not affect that either way . You should eat healthy and I believe the vegan diet is the healthiest diet in the world , and if you feel you are not eating healthy .. vegetables, fruits, nuts , non dairy soy /rice/oat, ... then you need to read about nutrition and be a healthy vegan ... my sons are vegan since birth and their heights/weights are as they should be .. the older is 6 foot and the younger is 5 foot 10 inches ... they are very strong and healthy .. if you want to know about how tall you will be ask your doctor at your next physical .. he can tell you with fair accuracy ..

Well, regardless of diet choice, you need to be sure you are getting the protein you need. As well as minerals and vitamins.
It shouldn't as long as you get a lot of protein and dairy type foods from other sources. For example, eat lots of soy milk and tofu products that replace meat and milk.
Who told you that? That is an absolute falsehood!
Sincerely,
Gary Coleman
Not necessarily, but you are growing and do need a lot of calories to do so. I would try being an ovo-lacto vegetarian first and go vegan if you really want to.
I have been a vegan for a long while and i can assure this is a farce. Becoming vegan is one of the healthiest choices you can make. Just be sure you get plenty of protein as well as iron and calcium. Eat lots of soy products and leafy greens, dont forget to take your daily vitamins. You'll feel refreshed and healthier than ever in no time.

hardly. Meat is so unnecessary it's ridiculous. You can grow to your full potential, be strong and athletic and anything else on a vegan diet.
Don't worry about it. Studies are cropping up all over the place that show that meat and even dairy is not as good as we've been lead to believe. You'll do just fine, and congratulations!
if you have access to a qualified dietitian or other medical professional for advice you should ask them, the vegan patrol on this site has an agenda, as do the passionate carnivores like myself... if you do not have access to sound medical advice it would probably not be health in your case.
not if you can eat almonds, which have protein and calcium in them =)
No. Of course not. Being vegan is completely natural. My kids have been vegan their whole lives and are super healthy, very smart, highly athletic, and tall for their age (but not fat - as all the other kids are). My daughter is in swimming, gymnastics, etc. classes with older kids. No stunting. In fact, the opposite. But of course, they eat really good healthy food. You can still be vegan and stuff your kids with really unhealthy foods. Vegan doesn't mean perfect. It just means without animal products. I've long ago gone beyond 'vegan' and strive to eat as naturally as possible.
no, but it would under the age of 13
