Is Benecol Spread okay for Vegans to eat?!

Question:

Is Benecol Spread okay for Vegans to eat?

Answers:
This is what the company states regarding benecol :" Do BENECOL? Spreads contain dairy or dairy by-products?
While none of the ingredients in BENECOL? Spreads are dairy-based, we cannot state with certainty that they do not contain any dairy by-products." ....... so no if you are vegan , you can not use ... most vegans I know use earths balance style or soy garden ..both delicious and both vegan .... earths balance : http://209.85.165.104/search?q=cache:uvn...

EDIT>>>I want to add a fact on earths balance and smart balance light both made by GFA company .. earths balance is claimed to be vegan by the company , sometypes are organic and have no artificial flavors.. smart balance light does not claim to be vegan , DOES have artifical flavors(so could be anything in their) and not organic..just food for thought ..lol..

in reply to the person underneath me..earth balance IS smart balance light advertised under a different name, and price jacked up for novelty purposes:)

*we compared ingredients and saw no difference.i will have to double check that again. thanks

no, benecol is not vegan. It contains mono and diglycerides, which are animal derived, and artificial flavor, and vitamins that are derived from animal sources. They even state on their website that it has no added dairy, but they cannot guarantee that it does not contain byproducts of animal or dairy-that in itself is scary, that they dont even know whats in their own product! Besides, with all of the artificial stuff, its not healthy any way. I think Earth Balance has a vegan spread, not certain though, as I dont use it.
