I would like to visit a farm.....?
I was thinking that I would like to go to a farm, and be around some of the animals, that I'm trying to keep alive and healthy. I am a vegetarian and a huge animal lover. I don't want to go to a petting zoo, because it always made me sad to see animals confined like that (even when I was a kid). Does anyone know of any great farms to visit in Colorado.
No smart *** answers or mean answers. I simply want to associate the animal with the cause.

It's not the everyday Joe Bob farm animals you are trying to help, they are free, happy and give organic byproducts. What you want to visit is the chicken/egg/dairy farms that mistreat animals (according to some).
You know farm animals have no sense of humor what so ever, right? The turkeys will chase you over toward the roosters who will chase you over toward the nursing hog's pin, who will call the old fart out of the front yard. And you don't want to get him started up because he's the one that taught the animals to stifle their sense of humor to begin with.
And the cows, oh my goodness not the cows. You'll walk out in a pasture and they'll start chasing you. A whole cow army!!!
You'll be up in a tree for god only knows how long until....once again, the old fart comes out and explains that they only want to be fed.
And just to be sure you don't make the mistake, I'll tell you. The Old Man will not by any stretch of the imagination appreciate you and your cousins going into the hen house and getting into an egg fight. I'm telling you.....no sense of humor on the farm.
On the serious side though, I do not believe you would be comfortable on a farm. Remember what those animals are being raised for. Not the humane society either. I would look to maybe a vet tech job. People who come into a vets office love their animals. So you would be around like minded people. People who would need you to comfort them while comforting their little furry kids.
You're not going to be near the animals. You can join a co-op & sometimes they require you to work on a farm (though it may just be for veggies).
there's supposed to be this ranch farmer that's raising cattle organically. Forgot his name but he's in the book "Fast Food Nation". You can probably find his name in there.
